The kinda unspecified CRK talk thread.

What does it cost to have CRK make a blade double lugs if I wanted to send one in?

My humble opinion is that the 31 is no where close to a 21. Build quality or action. And I have a number of CRK’s. 😁

I have 2 21's and 1 31 and must say I like the 31 slightly better. I like the better detent on the 31 and the larger ceramic ball and its lock up.

Yes they may be slightly stiffer due to the bigger ball, but they break in well.

You know at the end of the day at least we can all agree that the best Sebenza is the Inkosi 😎

No way

Has anyone been to the mothership in Idaho? I’m taking a trip up there for a wedding and might check it out. Do they have a shop I can purchase while there? Might pick up a 31 if so

I’m not sure how the newest ones stack up, but I have 3 31’s. 2 Large Inlays and a Small Inlay. They all have the same issue that the pocket clip screw backs out. Also the pivot screw likes to back out. Unfortunately all the hardware on the 31’s need to be loctited in.

It’s just not the same as it used to be. :(

Very strange... I've had more 31s than is healthy and regularly carried and used plenty of them and never had issues with screws backing out. No loc tite on any of mine.

I personally find the 21 and 31 roughly equivalent, but I've also owned a lot fewer 21s. Each have their pros and cons.

For whatever it's worth, owning both 21s and 31s I pick 31s much more often to carry. In part because they are current production so if anything happens, repair parts are readily available. But also because I don't see a major enough difference to carry 21s over 31s. To add to it, I'm a steel nerd that likes thin edges and I find both S45VN and MagnaCut work better than S35VN for me.

The one thing I'm not convinced is a huge upgrade on the 31 is the ceramic ball lock, but I also haven't seen functional issues in my use.

Lucky duck!!

Even the pre-owned one that I bought, the same thing happens. It came just loaded with loctite that I found when I went to clean it for the first time. I’m not trying a fourth time…..yet. Haha.

Probably not the right thread for this but I didn’t easily spot a thread to comment about their service. As much of a CRK fan as I am, I have to say I’m quite unimpressed with my recent experience sending in my KA CF Inkosi Insingo to fix a very late lockup of nearly 95%, nearly touching the presentation side scale — nothing like what I’ve experienced with my other dozen or so Inkosis, 21s and 31s. The knife is NIB, and I wasn’t too happy to get nearly into an argument with two of the service reps who claimed it was within spec, especially since right after they received it, Peggy called me to confirm receipt of the knife and that she also noticed that problem right away and they’d be able to fix it. Now I have to wait 12-15 months to get it rebladed and it will just sit in my closet waiting for this service. Not really sure what I can do otherwise and I’m certainly not going to sell it to someone else to experience the same issue. Sorry for my venting but I really expected a whole lot more from them.

I'm sure you're aware, but because of the placement/size of the ceramic ball, the lockup isn't happening exactly at the inner edge of the lock bar. If the lock bar appears to be 95% of the way to the show scale I'd guess your lockup is probably more like 60-70% across the lock face. Most people judge this by the "track" created in the lock face of the blade by the ceramic ball, if you check out your other Inkosis and 31s you'll see what I mean. You thinking the lockup is too late doesn't mean it isn't in spec. Are you paying for the new blade?

The mark of the ceramic ball is at 95%.
