The kinda unspecified CRK talk thread.

The mark of the ceramic ball is at 95%.

So does your lock bar touch the opposite scale? I'd think it would have to for the ball to be that far over and I agree it's odd that they would claim this was in spec. Since they're saying it's in spec, did you have to pay for the new blade? Typically warranty work is pushed through the shop much faster than the advertised wait times for purchasing replacement parts. I recently saw a post from a guy who snapped his Sebenza 21 blade and had it back with a brand new Magnacut replacement in 4 or 5 weeks.

It doesn’t touch the opposite scale but is very close (closer than I’d like it to be). Per my measurement, the track ends at 90%. Whatever the actual number is, it’s much later than all my other CRKs and not something I want to use for fear it will travel even further. I’m in the queue for a reblade at a cost of $150 and wait time of over a year. Some of you will say it doesn’t look that bad, and maybe that’s fine for you — for me, I don’t like it, especially for a NIB knife. I’m not posting here to argue about it, just stating my opinion.

Yeah that's not right.

Years ago (perhaps 2019ish?) I got a small inkosi that was not quite that bad for lockup but almost... but strangely the lock bar could be pushed over to touch the non locking side without too much force. The dealer took it back and gave me a refund, but in an email stated it was in spec, which was odd to me but at least I wasn't stuck with that knife.

You’re definitely in the right to ask for a fix. It should absolutely be replaced.

Yet another one of those things would have gone through life not thinking about... My small 31, birthday in September of '21 locks up like that. Been using it since then with reckless abandon...

Gonna keep doing just that too, at least until if goes back to the mothership for the new blade I ordered last July.

Can you purchase the 21 replacement blades in magnacut?

Yes. There's a 9-12 month wait for optional rather than warranty blade replacement.

I was told just a week or two ago that you cannot order a Magnacut 21 blade at this time. People are receiving them on warranty replacements but they are not available for purchase yet. I was told it would be announced by Tim Reeve on social media when they were available and to check back in a few months.

There has been a lot of back and forth discussion on this topic. The latest I had heard from a few months back when I called was no you can’t purchase a new blade for a 21 right now but they do have them for warranty. It could also be that they tell people that so the word doesent get out that they have a stock of Magnacut blades for 21’s and get overwhelmed. Not sure. Take that for what it’s worth ☺

Here's the thing...if a blade has a 9-12 month lead and they're already switching to Magnacut for warranty work, are they really going to have S45 blades laying around in 9-12 months? While people are still being told it's a no-go, if I was a gambling man I'd wager you'd receive a Magnacut blade if you ordered it today.

I was only speaking to the 21 blade specifically. You can order a 31 Magnacut blade on the website but not a 21. They defiantly have stock of the 21 magnacut blades but are not offering them for sale outside of warranty work from how I understood it.

I'm also speaking about the 21 blade. I'm just saying that while you can't specifically order one, there is a fairly good chance that in 9-12 months when they're ready for you to ship your knife in that you will get a Magnacut blade even if your order was for S45VN. I seem to remember when the 31s and Inkosis were transitioning their plan of action was to use up all the S45VN stock they had and switch to Magnacut. I don't think they're going to order more S45VN just to make replacement 21 blades when just about everyone would probably rather have Magnacut anyway.

I'm going backwards...sold off my Magnacut and S45VN CRKs, currently have one in S35VN and one in S30V with another S30V on the way 😂 Future plans to replace them all with Magnacut and maybe go Insingo on one of them.
