The Knife Life (Minor Topics and Random Stuff Thread)

More like a larger rift, IMO

Good to here you tried out a small seb. I hope to do the same pretty soon, but seeing as I've already met my knife quota for.... oh, you know........THE REST OF THE YEAR:p, I'll probably hold off on getting one until Christmas.

Haha I know that feeling... That horrible waiting period...

At least we all have awesome knives to bide our time with

I feel like I'm in a relationship with my mailbox.

I'm not. My packages usually arrive a little before dinner time, so they dont make it anywhere near my mailbox before I get to them.....

....It's the mailman I have an intimate relationship with:D

And yes, I've startled him on a few occasions. But by now he usually expects it whenever theres any packages in the daily bundle

It's here!!! And its huge!!:D

Oh my! I literally burst out laughing when I opened it for the first time:)

It also saw its first use today...... Came in handy while setting up a graveyard in my friends yard.

Badass!!!! I knew you'd like it bro! And I'm very glad that you have no qualms about actually using it! So cool - I'm very stoked for you

Thanks guys!

It's a great knife for sure. A little large for Edc, I must say, but still a great knife. Love the option of a longer blade. My collection needed that......a pocket sword, that is:D

I swear I could almost two hand this thing:D:thumbup:

I was amazed when I saw it in my mailbox though..... The seller shipped it yesterday and claimed he would be sending it with standard usps shipping. Even though he was also in Cali, I still figured it would take a while. But nope! Awesome

Overall, I'm really happy I pulled the trigger on this one! Im actually surprised how nice of a condition its in for the 70 bucks I paid. I was expecting quite a bit worse, but this thing is practically new. The only signs of use are the very minor blade marks and the two pocket clip screws having been changed to Philips. Oh and BTW, I've already swapped out the clip for a Ti low rider I had sitting around. Not because I didn't like the original, but because I needed it for something else......:p

I've got a ZT0801 on the way. I know a few of you guys in this thread have one. Anything special I need to know breaking it down? I'll be anodizing it the second I get it.

Never took mine apart, but it seems pretty easy to do. I hear the tolerances are pretty tight though, so it might be a bit of a pain putting back together...... Come to think of it, they're damn near ZERO! :D

So you just got the original plain Ti version?

Sounds good thanks. Yeah, just a standard model. If I like it, I'll do the same with a black wash model.

Lol, ZERO...

Is it weird that the size of the Contego is growing on me???

I'm starting to LOVE the looks too......

I put a sick edge on it last night, and now it's screaming sharp. You could probably hear it from where you are.... Wait........Just........Ah.............ah.......yup! .......There it is! :D

Awesome dude! I personally have never liked big folders, I feel anything more than 3.5 inches should be fixed blade, but maybe I have just not had a chance to have one like the contego.

On another note, my uncle gave my little brother a mini grip for his birthday. Neither of them are particularly into knives, but when my brother showed it to me he was like. "Dude, this feels super nice!"

Not weird at all man. Same thing happened to me with big folders. I started out with 3" knives feeling like even 3.5" was too big. Then I got a ZT 0561. At first it seemed just absurdly huge... until it suddenly didn't. Now the smallest knife I routinely carry is 3.6", and I've got a 4" Bad Monkey in my primary rotation. Big knives for life!

I had a chance to handle a Contego a while back, and man was that thing awesome. I plan to pick one up at some point, when my list of must-have knives gets a little shorter. Glad you're enjoying yours!

Thanks guys.
I still don't really see myself Edc ing this thing much, but it's great for when I need a larger work knife.

Personally, I still feel like ~3 inches is the best for Edc, so my mini grip fits the bill nicely. That size allows for a decent amount of blade but not so much that it becomes cumbersome. For instance, I tried using the Contego to open mail...... hmmmm nope! Haha

On a side note, it flips really well now that I put some white lithium grease in the pivot and on the blade tang. There's just something awesome about hearing that 4 inch blade slide out and thunk into place with very little effort:thumbup:

So I was thinking of biting the bullet and getting a set of keyman's cf scales for my mini grip...115 shipped...... Ouch! But I REALLY like them. Thoughts? Anyone else buy from him?
