The Knife Life (Minor Topics and Random Stuff Thread)

That one does look sweet, but for the most part I just don't carry em much anymore. I still window shop from time to time. I tend to carry a fixed blade if I think I'll need something substantial, and I got my concealed carry permit a while back. So the Glock I carry knocks out any reason for a self defense knife.
However, I still carry my sebenza every once in a while. I carried and used it all day yesterday in a crawl space at work in fact. I have thought about adding another CRK(those new large inkosis are pretty enticing), but in the end it just wouldn't justify the money.

Fair enough, fair enough:)

Well hey at least you still have a sebbie, that's more than I can say!

You still got that tritium in that seb, brother? I've broken and/or given away most of my stash and have only 2 left:D

Lol very cool story man, got any knife content to add to it?;)

Oh and btw, 6 months for a kiss?? Damn bro, you've got patience. Or you're a wimp:D:p Lol just playing

Oh yeah forgot the knife content got sidetracked. Made one knife many have likely seen and have been in process of making a second. One was 4.5 inch blade if I remember correctly the one in process is 7 inch.
Learned that if I'm throwing a knife at hay bales, that my delica works better for me than throwing knives.
I have broken the tip on my delica twice neither is related to throwing.
Back off topic replying to quote.
Mostly patience little bit of wimp. Not my first relationship but my first how should I put this. Relationship. Most y'all probably understand what I mean. Her first relationship. Again y'all gonna either know what I mean or you don't. She's not really the type whom you'd expect to be dating someone before being out of high school. Like I said I can't explain it any other way.

Back on knife topic for lazy people that skip to the end.
Finally found my first knife I got. Got it when I turned twelve. "Stainless China" multi tool knife. Beautiful wood scales with super shiny bolsters. Heavy. I never really used it was too busy Havin fun with knives I wasn't sposed to be havin.

Actually I don't. I took it out when I sent it in for warranty, and I haven't put it back in. I often look at the empty lanyard hole and tell myself that I'm finally going to put it back in.
I'll try and find where I put it tomorrow and put it back in. I need to take it apart and give it a good cleaning anyways.

Sorry to hear about your mom and the house, hang in there, there's ALWAYS a light at the end of the tunnel

Oh and make sure you turn your son into a knife knut when the time comes:)

Thanks for the kind words. I'm doing my best to keep positive.

As for my son, I'll probably introduce him to his first knife when I give him the shiny new Daisy Red Ryder I got hidden in my closet :D

Look for it in the dark. That's how I've found vials I've dropped in the past:D

One more thing going on in the knife life for me.....

I've decided because work is so scarce around here, especially for out of town college kids, to open up a little knife sharpening business for the neighborhood since we have a lot of older folks with dull kitchen knives. 30-50 bucks for a set of knives depending on the amount of work involved and the number of knives in the set. I've already had two customers and made around 100 bucks for what was essentially 3-4 hours of work in total:)

Now the problem is marketing, gotta get the word out better so that I can really start pulling customers in.

You could start a service here with the right membership, but you'll have a lot of competition. What are you using to sharpen?

I've been sharpening some friend's/family's knives on my paperwheels for a while now. I refuse to sharpen anyone's high-dollar folders though (besides my own). It's too easy to grind a tip off or misjudge an angle. Kitchen knives are easy though, due to their thin geometry.

Yeah just kitchen knives for me as well. No one around here really has more expensive blades anyway.

The reason I'd like to keep it local is because Im only in town until the end of August so this is really just a short term gig before I have to head back to Denver for the start of classes in the fall. My sharpening skills are also nowhere NEAR those of the forum sharpening guys, so I wouldn't be much competition for them. I just use my diamond stones (course and then medium-fine) and then the sharpmaker to get hair shaving edges at around 20 degrees per side and so far my customers have been more than satisfied, considering most of them had forgotten that a knife could even be that sharp after all the years of using their dull ones....

Hey Id like to see some of your guys most recent knife pics! Bonus points for exotic scenery/artistic camera work:thumbup:

Last week I was in ABQ visiting my girlfriend and I had a chance to take the tram up into the Sandia mountains and hiked up there for a bit. Got this shot of the PM2 at the top.

I've had people react the same way to a "sharp" knife. Almost like they didn't even know that knives weren't supposed to be dull:D

Regarding knife pics, I've been involved in a bit of photography lately. Bought a new camera and have been really into it. Here's a few recent examples:

Definitely not the best work, but I'm enjoying what I'm doing.

Thanks man! I try:o

I'm jealous of the view you had up on those mountains! I have yet to be up higher than 500' above ground level. Someday I'll get to hike some mountains!

Great pictures Blues and Kris!
This was by far my gnarliest hike to date. It was not the longest, but it was about 2.5 miles straight uphill with pretty much zero breaks.

This was at the same place.

That knife has become my dedicated hiking knife. It has already seen about 40 miles over the past couple months.

The mountains are one of my favorite parts of living in Denver, just beautiful all year round. So beautiful, in fact that I drove up there all the time and that what ended up killing my car:(

I know a lot of people hate the first gen TTs, think they're chick cars, etc. But man did I love that one, 6 speed manual, chip tuned to 260hp, amulet red and black leather interior. Such a shame

Wow, what a bummer!
I really would like to go to CO one of these days just to experience the Rockies.

They're amazing no question about that, I've got friends who went skiing up there in places like Breckenridge, keystone, and vail every weekend all the way from late October through May. And they're equally beautiful in summer months when the snows melted.

Oh and in case anyone's wondering about the last pic, im leaning out of the back of the highway patrol car who responded to the accident. The bastard acted all buddy buddy and chatted with me about cars for a solid hour and then right before I jumped in the tow truck for a ride back into town he slapped me with a careless driving charge out of nowhere:mad:

Apologies officer, wasn't aware that driving below the speed limit and being the victim of your early winter constituted careless driving:rolleyes::thumbdn:
