The Knife Life (Minor Topics and Random Stuff Thread)

Ladies and Gentlemen, it's been a while. Let the resurrection begin!

Calling all knife lifers! Ant, Harris, sad sappy? Anyone there?

Let's get this bad boy rolling again:thumbup:

Update on life first.......

Done with my first year of college, had some bad times and some good but I came out alright. Decent grades, minimal screw ups (well this one is debatable:D) Had my fun for a while, then met a great girl and we've been going strong for almost a year now. Totalled my car last holloween sliding off the side of a mountain near Denver when I hit a patch of black ice in a shady corner. Real shame, I loved that car. Thankfully I made it out ok, talked to a guy who used to work as an engineer for Audi back when the design first came out and he said that if the tree had hit a little further forward on the driver side door than where it did, that might have been it for me.

Anyway, knives took a back seat to classes and partying for a while, but now they've worked their way back into my life. Throughout the year I sold off a good chunk of my collection and or lost/had them taken from me. First semester I also had my Grail sebenza taken by a cop and it disappeared from my possessions so I never got that one back after being released. I'm down to a handful of great folders that I've really bonded with, namely the customized PM2 with CF, the customized mini ritter m390 with CF, a new lionsteel tre CF, a dragonfly salt, a new 20CV mini grip, my old trusty fox k-bit, and a BM Contego. Still have some fixed blades like that custom I had made and a Benchmade steep country, plus some of the bigger ontarios. My original ESEE 4 in tan was left under a hotel room pillow on a road trip so I replaced it with a black one.

Just scored a Ferrum Forge Mordax on the exchange and I'm super stoked because the design language really speaks to me. Was gonna get a replacement sebbie for the same money but decided to go for this one because it's a discontinued model and looks like someting I can really use the hell out of:thumbup:

Pics when it gets here in a few days, of course. Because what good is a knife announcement without pics??:D

If any of the old regulars are still around, Id like to hear how you guys are doing and catch up on what you've been up to this past year. Been missing you guys, hope all is well. Let's get this thread back up and running! Of course all newcomers are welcome as well. Just please read through the first few pages first because it's in those posts that you'll find the explaination for how to use this thread.

Good to see you didn't cause any permanent damage!

:D

Physical or otherwise.

Woohoo! I knew it!

I knew you'd be much more concerned with stuff other than knives in college youngblood!

Let's see... Partied it up, got busted and lost your Sebenza to a crooked cop, crashed your car, and met a chick... Yep, college. :)

Indeed!

Good to hear from you CM, how've you been?

Still sober. Getting real busy. Talking to a girl who lives 3 hours away... Part of the Instagram knife community. She's gonna make a knife with me soon. Stay a few days. F*** s*** up and stuff. Knife people love.

Haha you got it brother man! You could say I've had the full experience:rolleyes::D

Great to hear from you after so long, anythjng new? How's the knife making coming?

S*** I remember when I still had your kerambit quote in my sig line:D

Not sure where that one went.....forum software must have lost it.

I forgot to mention when I was cuffed and sitting on the curb the night I lost my sebbie, I slipped my fox k-bit out of my waistband when they weren't looking and push it behind a nearby cinderblock. Went back to the spot and found it the next day, so it all worked out and I only ended up loosing one knife that night plus no issues with additional weapons charges........slick no?:cool:

Good thinking on the fly!

Thanks brother, close call for sure. Glad I had the presence of mind in that fog.......oh boy was it a foggy night:D

Good to hear from you too. It's been a while!

Eh, I kinda got sidetracked off of that for a while. I've been helping a family member out a lot lately to try to get a few things in his life sorted out.

I've got all my stuff together. I've tried grinding a few test blanks. They came out ok, so I'm looking forward to trying out the real deal.

I finished junior year of highs chill 3.5 gap with only two teachers counting down till me leaving for summer, failed my driving test for doing something I didn't do on a street that I was never on during the test, finally grew a pair and kissed my girlfriend of 6 months for the first time, broke a finger working on my Camaro a week before mom decided to sell it bscUse we've had it a year and it ain't fixed, got my knife sharpening skills down, ran a half marathon, and am soon going to start the process of signing up for the navy.

Man, I picked a good time to start checking back in in General. It's great to hear that college is treating you right Krissig.
Ant, it's great to see you around! I still look forward to your fixed blades!
Me, between work slowing down and moving my knife buying has really been non existent lately, but I still cruise the traditional forum frequently. Speaking of which, my knife interests have pretty much completely turned to slip joints. I haven't bought a modern in well over a year.
Other than the newish job and move I have been doing a ton of hiking and kayaking/ fishing. I have done more and been more places this summer than I ever have. It has really been a blast.
Oh, and I am also still sober.

Lol very cool story man, got any knife content to add to it?;)

Oh and btw, 6 months for a kiss?? Damn bro, you've got patience. Or you're a wimp:D:p Lol just playing

Love this thread! Glad to see it still floating around!

Well, I don't have much exciting news or adventures to share but I can't complain too much about life.
I've been dealing with a little drama but I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Last year my mom was diagnosed with colon cancer. She is responding to treatment very well and keeping very positive. My house caught on fire 3 days before Christmas. Luckily I wasn't living there at the time and most of the damage was to the kitchen. Needless to say my insurance took care of it and it's coming together.

My son will be starting second grade in about a month and a half and I couldn't be more proud :) He's such a good kid!

As far as knives go, I picked up a couple fixed blades, several folders and my second automatic knife this year. I'm currently thinking about getting a Kizer Quicksilver or a Boker Plus Exskeliber.

There you are man! Was wondering how long it would take you to find this thread:thumbup:

Great to hear you're having an awesome summer. But turning to slipjoints??

Allow me to convert you back to moderns with a pic of the Mordax I've got coming later this week....;)

I mean come on, this blade is pure sex:cool:

Well man, I'll be waiting for when your first blade rolls out of the shop. Bet they'll be killer:thumbup:

Sorry to hear about your mom and the house, hang in there, there's ALWAYS a light at the end of the tunnel

Oh and make sure you turn your son into a knife knut when the time comes:)

That one does look sweet, but for the most part I just don't carry em much anymore. I still window shop from time to time. I tend to carry a fixed blade if I think I'll need something substantial, and I got my concealed carry permit a while back. So the Glock I carry knocks out any reason for a self defense knife.
However, I still carry my sebenza every once in a while. I carried and used it all day yesterday in a crawl space at work in fact. I have thought about adding another CRK(those new large inkosis are pretty enticing), but in the end it just wouldn't justify the money.
