The Knife of 2014

Not necessarily the one most carried but the one most used as it sits right in front of me on my desk and gets used multiple times a day.

Case CV 62009 ½ 1970 (10-dot) saw cut red bone Barlow

I was lucky enough to pick up several nice knives this year but the one that does it for me is the Marlow, I have 3 or 4 knives by my wallet to chose from each day and this one gets picked up 80% of the time.

I bought 4 knives this year. A Camillus 2 blade congress, A Case 6318, and then a 63032. Then I got the Tidioute 81. Having carried my copperlock most of the year, it was a breath of fresh air to get a stockman. The most fun was cleaning up the Camillus, and I was smitten with the 6318. F/F and walk and talk was smooth.I decided to get the 63032 after because it was my daily carry in the eighties so I felt compelled to get one. Got one and returned it because it was really sloppy and it had a lazy main blade. They picked out a nice tight one for me but the pen blade caught on the sheepsfoot and the sheepsfoot had a really wavy grind. Sent it back to Case explaining that, and the fact that I had a dislike for the Amber Bone. I've yet to get it back, but it's on its way. Then I got the GEC 81 and it's been the grail knife for me. I think it will stay in my pocket for quite some time with an occasional visit with the 63032. Who knows. That may change. Happy New Year everyone!

Great thread.

Nice one, Ed! Good to see you around.

Once I celebrated a years carry in late March with my 2013 Clip/Pen Ebony TC Barlow, I started to carry many different frames/styles.

This one simply earned the most pocket time of 2014;)

Easily, my 63032 wins the 2014 knife of the year. Cv, chestnut bone, great w/t. Just makes me happy.

I 've really got to get off my duff and get some pics up......fell l ok me I'm only halfway participating.

This'un will be popping beers til champagne time, but I think my 2014 forum knife wins the year. It won me over on clip blades, it's inexpensive enough that I don't fear using it, and the size is just perfect.

Great Thread Jack Sir!
I have acquired a few knives this year - and I just could not answer you as to which one is special - there have been knives gifted to me by friends that are extremely valuable to me but also the new ones - like the TC's that are just amazing as well, so heres a few that only share the knife of 2014 for me....

My most carried knives for 2014 - - - -
Sunbrite 77.....I've been having lots of fun with this little glow stick!

And my favorite John Lloyd always finds it's way back into my pocket.

Great thread Jack, as a Christmas gift from my Daughter, I received a GEC 15 single blade boys knife that I have been carrying most of the time. I have not had it long but it is definitely my favorite traditional carry knife (or is it the 2014 Bladeforums knife, hard choice). :D

Great thread, Jack!! Well, I went through my pictures of 2014 and the one I have carried and used the most is this Shapleigh DE. I have really bonded with this knife for some unknown reason. Maybe because it is such a great user and it has such character. It just lit a fire in my heart.

My knife purchase of the year would have to be this Frank Buster Fight'n Rooster "Black Widow" prototype stockman from 1978.
Mint in the box, and with some of the nicest deeply jigged bone I've ever handled.

I think it's going to change for 2015 based on some new purchases. But my most carried in 2014 is my 50 year old Boy Scout knife I've had since new.

By far my least expensive knife, but this year it has slowly become one of my favorites, and would probably claim the number one spot for 2014.
Imperial Frontier 4" Stockman.
Can't really explain why. Just has a solid feel and seems like the perfect tool for any cutting job I have. Nice to fondle, too. Taking on a nice patina.

I can see why that has become a favorite of yours.
Excellent!
