Greg's hair was shoulder length and looked left over from the late 60s or early 70s, and he looooved to wear pink, teal, yellow, lavender and other pastel colors. A big 'ol manly looking burly redneck sort walked up to him at a fast food joint one day when he was wearing a pink shirt and teal pants, and called him a derogatory term for a man of "alternate sexual orientation." Greg responded by making a smart aleck joke, and Big Bubba swung, trying to land a John Wayne western-style haymaker. Greg proceeded to take Bubba down and beat him sadistically about the face and neck until he cried for mercy, at which point Greg stopped, leaned over and planted a big kiss on Bubba's lips and asked, "So how does it feel to get your a_ _ whipped by a [man of alternate lifestyle]?" Bubba's friends were dying laughing, so I'm sure he never lived it down. Greg wasn't & isn't gay, but I've always wondered how bad it felt to the other guy because you just know he thought Greg was.

As for the topic of the forum, I don't recall if Greg was carrying a knife. :D

So, to all of you guys, I really apologize, seems like the manly thing to do, for defending pink and letting this thread get out of control. Or are we now getting a discussion about apologizing being something real men don't do (oil on the fire)...

Purple clothing used to be a symbol of great wealth.

I personally don't wear pink or purple, though I have a tie or two with some nice, deep purple coloring. But I also dress in jeans and t shirts most of the time, and I just find these colors to be much more suited for "fancy" dress.
I'll admit the whole pink dress shirt thing got pretty out of hand in recent history, but I see nothing wrong with a nice pink or purple hued dress shirt.

Then again, my mind is not a slave to mindless, macho stereotypes.

I'm not down with the men trying to be like women thing either. I actually had a conversation with a guy once who stated that he preferred wearing women's jeans because they made his butt look better. Sorry, but there is nothing right about that sentence.

Nope. Mostly I think it's a color.

I think the idea that if a man wears a maroon, or lavender, or pink, or whatever color shirt, or windbreaker or whatever, that that makes him a part of some international conspiracy against men or makes him less than a man or against manliness...well that idea is just silly beyond words.

Little boys get blue and little girls pink. If a grown woman wears blue jeans does that make her unwomanly? Maybe in 1960 in Atlanta it did and in Saudi Arabia today maybe. When John Wayne wore a lavender shirt, as he did in a couple of his flicks, was he less a man? To some here apparently.

If I gotta listen to an upper class Englishman (the most effeminate and foppish of men on the face of the earth) explain anything to me about manliness, well I ain't that low.

What knife would I not carry...anyone recommended by a fella who is so weak in his masculinity that he thinks the color pink will rob him of his manhood.

I wouldn't carry a pink knife, but not because I think it would make me less of a man, I just don't like the color for a knife. I was however considering getting the purple delica 4, but I ended up going with green. the fact that pink/purple are thought of as "women's colors" is kind of ridiculous. Then what the hell is a "man's color?"

My wife told me once when we were dating that one of the things that attracted her to me was that I didn't wear pink. True story.
