the latest on the Custom shop

I checked into that and Al is right. We ship in a way that pre-pays the fees. As they told me, otherwise the customer would be paying a substanial amount more in brokerage fees.
I checked the web site and it does not mention that Free Shipping only applies to the US. You dont find out until you check out. They will change that, it really should say so up front before you do all that typing. Sorry for that.

Thanks Joe,I apprechiate you looking into that for me,I think tomorrow i'll order my 2 customs over the phone,I always liked the more personal method of ordering,Sara was always great to talk with.I guess i can't complain,at least my favorite knife company still makes customs, they could have said the heck with it and been done with the customs altogether..

Thanks to Joe,I havew a small collection of bg-42 110's ,so i'm not worried its gone, what is 154cm?I know one custom is going to be s30v I like that steel too!

Here is a little quote from Knife Steel FAQ -

" It's difficult to make generalizations about ATS-34 and 154-CM -- they are in such widespread use that heat treat varies widely. These steels provide a high-end performance benchmark for stainless steels, and hold an edge well, and are tough enough for many uses (though not on par with good non-stainlesses). They aren't very stain resistant, however."

Benchmade make extensive use of 154CM and I have found their blades to be very good. Just imagine how good it would be when heat treated by Paul Bos. I have been more than pleased by 154CM and especially by CPM154, which is a powder steel.
