The Legend of Waynorth - Does he really exist?

Now I know who left those sleigh tracks in my yard all those years ago. A Barlow was my second knife and I have had, and lost, many, as a child. I love them. I especially love that antique yellow Sawyer Barlow he sent you. That is one of my most hoped for knives, but, alas, I have other things that I must do with my money, like a handicapped wife. You are fortunate that fellow visited you with such a nice gift.

Ole St.Nick has got nothing on Charlie! St.Nick works only one time of year meanwhile Charlie brings happiness to knife fans all year long.

I've just been tidying up my collection "backups", which are now all gone.
Steering them toward old customers, and faithful contributors here just seemed right.
My gift of a knife to Rob is in recognition of the great "desktop" pics, and other monumental work he has done for this Forum.
I must deny my North Pole residency, however! Do you know what it costs to feed eight reindeer, however tiny???
:D

Beautiful knives Primble!! And a great story.

Couldn't have said it better myself Duncan!!

Well Primble it looks like you passed the check it twice part of that list. Those are great knives. I absolutely love the spear blades on those! You received my grail there. The ebony one always gets my heart pumping. But that rust red saw cut is a beautiful thing. Charlie seems to resemble Mr. Clause in his generosity at the very least.

Charlie has long been my Hero here on the Forum. His contributions to our hobby and to this Forum are nothing short of enormous. His SFO's in general are first class in every regard. I have two Charlows and a 66 Calf Roper he did. They're among my most cherished pocket knives.

What a fantastic gesture indeed, those are very much sought after and I know they're in good hands. I dare say the Smithsonian couldn't be any safer a place to bestow those beauties than the esteemed Primble collection!

THIS is my Grail Charlow... As classic as it gets - a longpull single Spear in ebony. If the house was on fire this is def one of the ones I'd rescue on the way out the door!

What an amazing gesture, and a very nice recounting. Three grail TCs for sure! The Legend is true!

I was about to contend that Waynorth is, indeed, a myth.

Which is silly, because he is obviously a mythter.

Well done once again, Charlie, and thank you Primble for your continued good company here in this subform-- including the wonderful pictures of the knives we love.

Charlie - I would only be repeating the words written in all of the above post concerning your character, value to this forum, and generosity, if I attempted to thank you. Instead I will only grace this thread with a contribution of how I also have been touched by Saint Charlie.

I couldn't make it to Rendezvous so I shot Charlie a pm in a long shot to send him money for an Oil Sucker TC Barlow. He politely filled me in that he had to stand in line and it was one per person. A few weeks after, I get a pm from Charlie, stating that he had acquired, from another gentleman, a second Oil Sucker. He wanted to know if I still wanted one. My first thought was, "Of course I do," but immediately after I thought,"Wow, it's been weeks and he remembered." So, I sent him my reply and to save time, my personal info.

Weeks have passed now and Saint Charlie, who cant afford to feed his reindeer, still hasn't supplied a way for me to pay him. I was just going to send a money order to the return address (he gave me a Washington return address) but after reading all the different return addresses used, I am a little hesitant to do that. His patience for me to pay astounds me, but, then again, he is a Saint.

Primble - those beauties could not have found a better home. Thank you for revealing the myth about "Who is Charlie..."
and allowing us all on bladeforum to experience your wonderful personality, knowledge, and collections.

*Charlie please pm me :)

Saint - St. Nicholas?? Is that what you are trying to say Brett?;)

Thank you for the kind words everyone and for the comments on the "quiet" doer of good deeds, who has been Primbleized and exposed.

The next box I get might be a grenade!

I worked on this a good while this afternoon. It is a bit difficult to get the detail I like from a picture like this - my current Charlow stable - thanks to MANY!!!

Wow!!!! You should offer your photography skills to knife makers. You make most every knife look awesome. You even take already awesome knives and make them look even more awesome.

It's good you and MT-Damascus (Kris) don't live near each other. If you did, you could take pictures of his fine knives and the rest of us would just have to give up.

I don't know that I can add anything of substance to this thread, but wanted to offer my congratulations to both Primble and Charlie for another outstanding example of generosity and graciousness. Beautiful knives, and an equally beautiful story behind them.

Well, I think this just proves once again that Charlie is the stuff legends are made of, and Primble has his hands on a load of beautiful Charlows. Thanks for sharing the discoveries of your investigations on Waynorth and your thanks.

Wow Primble that pic is superb. Very nice collection. You've been a busy bee. I've let many of mine go over the past year. I see a few like I used to have in that pic. :D

If this Charlie is not the real deal he has one heck of a stunt double.

The one that started it for me.
