The Legend of Waynorth - Does he really exist?

Brian - that Charlow you show is a splendid one!

Thank you everyone for the nice comments to me, but, more especially about WAY NORTH.

Anyone that has had similar experiences with this most mysterious man, feel free to post your experiences here!

I think there will be some shrapnel heading toward that north border before long.

I have a need to find out if a package sent to that mystery box gets picked up by a man or elves. I might even hire a private eye to watch the box - or ferry!! ;):D

The question is - what kind of shrapnel do you send to a person/or myth, that seems to already have the best shrapnel on earth?:eek::D

Wow Primble that pic is superb. Very nice collection. You've been a busy bee. I've let many of mine go over the past year. I see a few like I used to have in that pic. :D

If this Charlie is not the real deal he has one heck of a stunt double.

The one that started it for me.

Well, I think this just proves once again that Charlie is the stuff legends are made of, and Primble has his hands on a load of beautiful Charlows. Thanks for sharing the discoveries of your investigations on Waynorth and your thanks.

I was under the impression Waynorth was simply an urban legend. I guess I was wrong.
He is the alias of Santa Claus.

Myth,Myther:biggrin::biggrin:,I like...

Of course that's not the real Charlie C&%$()@@@,that's another guy named Charlie C&%$()@@@.

Wow! Just plain wow. Just to think how long it took for me to get one...

Mysterious - for me. :D:thumbup:

Saint - St. Nicholas?? Is that what you are trying to say Brett?;)

Thank you for the kind words everyone and for the comments on the "quiet" doer of good deeds, who has been Primbleized and exposed.

The next box I get might be a grenade!

I worked on this a good while this afternoon. It is a bit difficult to get the detail I like from a picture like this - my current Charlow stable - thanks to MANY!!!

This thread is great! Primble great pic and great analogy with waynorth. :D

Charlie has been great to me too. I'm a new guy and I got his name from a member here. I contacted him through PM and he hooked me up immediately. It was very refreshing and I was impressed.

I can only try to add to what has been said repeatedly:thumbup:

I have a similar story to that of Brett's (KBA). I had pictured my knife manufactured by Empire in the the thread Charlie had started about the brand. I had made a reference to how our family furniture store was named "Empire Home Furnishings" and that I tried to collect anything EMPIRE.

Where my story is similar to Brett's is that months later when I had purchased the latest version of the Barlow release is that when my Barlow arrived an EMPIRE Barlow was also in the package:thumbup: Charlie's memory is remarkable and his kind gesture doesn't end there. Recently I received an African Blackwood "Days Work" Barlow just because:o

I have a future thread where my appreciation for several members kindness is in the works...details later;)

So Charlie you deserve all the accolades my friend because you are quite frankly so deserving:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Thank you Primble not only for this thread but for all you contribute here...you are very much appreciated!!!

Wow! Just plain wow. Just to think how long it took for me to get one...

But look at the ONE you got Todd - it is stunning!

I don't seem to have one like it, FRIEND!!!:D

By the way folks - I gave C.C. the CHANCE to say no to the thread and he never said yes or no - I took that as - not a NO!! :D

So - everyone pile on ALL you want.:p

P.S. - I send out new friend invitations to everyone that posts a new Charlow I like and if it is one which I don't have!:D:D

Wow! What a classy move by Mr. C (see what I did there? 😉), and great write up and pictures as always by Primble. This is a great thread, with great comments by great people, and it exemplifies everything good about BF.

Blades opened on this one, less my user, the Saddle Brown "Days Work":

I detect a lack of soup bone in that photo, Primble. Better get on that!

I joined this forum three years ago, and for the last two years 8at least) I've been hanging around the porch daily. I owe this place a huge amount of knowledge on slipjoints (which were pretty much a faint shadow when I got here for the first time), and quite a number of what I am happy to call friends, even though I've never met them in person, nor I probably will (but who knows? :)).
I "met" Charlie way before he got into the Charlow path; at that time, he was pretty much the Ambassador of the Harness Jack, and thanks to him I got quite an education on this pattern. When the HJ6 came out, and I contacted him, he was extremely kind and picked up mine (I asked for the milder pull in the batch). Now that knife has gone away from here and is owned by another lucky member here...yet every time I had the chance to "talk" with Charlie, it was impossible not to feel his passion for knives, and the amusement he finds in our little sharp tools.
Back then it was the HJ, now it's the Barlow, tomorrow it will be some other pattern...but Charlie's role in pushing old patterns into current production cutlery is something we all cherish and admire. Not to mention his work for the 2014 BF traditional knife.
He is not a legend nor a myth. He's one of us. Ain't that great? :)

I am working on Todd for his, however, am getting the cold shoulder, currently. Maybe when he gets another he will not be so keen on that soupie! ;):D

You have managed to garner a fine collection there Primble! Very nicely photographed as usual. Charlie aka Santa and GEC really hit it out of the park with these Barlows

Not a myth, a legend! :) Many years ago, when I was still a boy, I was debating the nature of genius with my father, and the definition we eventually agreed upon was 'sustained passion'. Charlie is something rare indeed I think, someone who has a great passion for something, and the intelligence and ability to not only make something of that passion, but to share the fruits of it with others.

Of course his passion is also infectious. I've found that I've been won over by his designs even when I at first thought the patterns wouldn't be of interest to me.

I think we live in a blessed period of knife history, when Charlie, with the help of some other very special people, is able to create something tangible from his passion. I'm sure that in decades to come, knife afficinados will look back on this period with envy, or for a lucky few, the pride of having shared in it, and that Charlie's SFOs will be as legendary as the great man himself.

What makes Charlie truly great in my eyes though, is that in spite of all this, he is absolutely one of us, a simply lovely guy, a knife lover, a generous man in every sense, and a great friend.

If there is ever someone who deserves to be carried round on the shoulders of his friends, it's Charlie! Well done Charlie, for everything you do, and everything you are.

Jack

You guys are embarrassingly effusive! Thank you very much!
Now let's talk knives!
Of course I am glad you all share my enthusiasm!
