The Les George Knives Thread

Here is the knife featured on my profile picture. It's a 2009 liner lock FM-1 featuring a 3¾" Chad Nichols “Wild One” stainless Damascus blade and Michael Burch “Trashcan” Damascus bolsters. It also sports a Chad Nichols Damascus backspacer, and mammoth ivory scales.

Les was kind enough to share a number of build photos with me, which really showcase the craftsmanship that went into this piece. He doesn’t often document his process to that extent, so the fact that he photographed this one every step of the way says a lot. I haven’t seen many knives from that 2008–2009 period that were as full-send as this one.

Holy crap - it's a good thing I was sitting down for this one. That is, hands-down, the most amazing LG I've laid eyes on. 😍

Stunning 👍

San Mai Sunday once again w/ my Mini Harpy from 2017. This little guy features a Nichols 6K Stellite Core San Mai blade, a matte Zirc inlay, milled Ti clip, and a particularly dark stonewash. There are fancier versions of the Mini Harpy but none more gnarly (IMHO) 🤘

Thank you for the kind words, gents. While Les has made far more exotic knives in the years since, there’s something special about an early dress model.

I’ve always likened it to sports cars. Newer ones may outperform previous models, but the classics still have a charm all their own.

Was chatting w/ the D7 boys at Blade this year and they told me they have a Reverse Tanto Servo in the works. Really excited to see how they turn out!
