The Les George Knives Thread

Some of you have already seen this, but for those who haven't, I was fortunate enough to get a spot on master engraver David Riccardo's books to have him hand engrave a clip for me. He's collaborated with Les on a few out of this world pieces so I was really happy to have him do even something small for me. The design is inspired by H.R. Giger's artwork on Alien just as Les's Morph scales were.

Absolutely next level. Truly amazing and is a perfect match! 🙏

Thanks, man! That means a lot coming from you as I know you've done an incredible job individualizing your pieces. David was really cool to work with. He's such a friendly, humble guy. I actually felt bad because unlike his work on titanium scales, the clip stock was so comparatively thin that he had to do all of the engraving with hand tools rather than being able to use something motorized. Painstaking work, but a worthwhile result.

I think we’re due an updated collection pic!
Has anyone disassembled a VECP Button Lock? I just got one the other day and it has a bit of lock stick. I tried to take it down to clean and polish a bit, but failed. It seems like the locking mechanism is holding the scales together, but couldn’t figure out how to get it to release. What’s the trick?
just wanted to see if you were able to figure out disassembling the button lock and how it’s done if so.

Would love to know as well
I've disassembled a few button lock VECPs and haven't had any issues with the process. There really aren't any special tricks I can recall. Maybe something was just stuck a bit and needed to be wiggled free? Can you try it again and take a picture of where you're getting hung up?

Good to know, thanks

Got the VECP button lock in. Thanks halden.doerge halden.doerge ! First impressions are this thing is nice. Thing that impresses me most and why it’ll get a lot of pocket time is the finish. Don’t think will show much wear. The action is great and lockup is solid . I do notice it’s sensitive to pivot adjustment. Detent could prob be a tad firmer for me as well since I’ve left it short on thumb flicks occasionally . It’s crazy smooth for washers

The LG stonewash is perfect for carry, it hides all but the most severe scratches. I have a button lock landing tonight, I'm super stoked to have one back in the stable!

Agree, the heavy stonewash made me super comfortable immediately throwing it in the pocket for carry.

Awesome, man! I agree that the button lock VECP is a great user. The stonewashed finish hides any scratches well and the Magnacut blade means you never have to worry about corrosion and rarely have to sharpen it. You're right about the pivot sensitivity as a tiny turn goes a long way. Les recommends that you use some plumber's tape instead of Loctite to keep the action exactly how you want. I'd never tried that until he suggested it and now I have some on all the Les knives that I carry.

I’ve been using loc tite and haven’t had any problems. Once they’re set I haven’t had to mess with em. Plumbers tape is probably a good idea though.
