The Les George Knives Thread

Lol, $10??? Cmuh, you’re worth more than that!
So... d'you get one? I was not going to bite at this one because I already bit on the Annual Sebenza today, then I got caught up in a work meeting and went back to look, and everything's gone except for the one non-stag BRK from today.

So far:

Day 1: GEC Northfield 66 (GONE)
Day 2: L.T. Wright customs (ONE LEFT)
Day 3: McNees Dixons (AVAILABLE, LOW STOCK)
Day 4: Les George damascus VECPs (GONE)
Day 5: American Blade Works slipjoints (GONE)
Day 6: Boatright Bladeworks Christmas-themed fixed blades (GONE) and Trevor Burger front flippers (ONE LEFT)
Day 7: G&G Hawk Talons (GONE), RMJ tetsubos (AVAILABLE), Double X pocket fixed blades (HALF GONE)
Day 8: Defiant 7 Servos (GONE), BRK Custom stag Lynx (GONE), BRK Highland Christmas Edition

The RMJ tetsubos are cool, but I'm having a hard time at $650 for a baseball bat.

I think the Dixon was a weird combination of too new but also too widely available for a limited drop to sell out...they seem extremely popular but they've been around just long enough that anyone DYING to have one probably already has it.

agree. so many versions available at same pricing as it hit....unless someone wanted the blackened ones.....didnt have a great chance.....

had they been cheaper, then might have been a different game played.....

I’m in the minority I guess as I bit on the Dixion. Been wanting one since the first drop but hadn’t seen a configuration that made we want to jump. When I saw the antique finish honeycomb with the acid washed blade it checked all the boxes for me.

Mine is on the way back to Blue Springs to remedy an unfortunate finish issue on the lock side of the blade, but I did spend a little time with it last night and snapped this photo this morning.

They are really something. Mechanically stellar - action, lock up, centering… perfect out of the box. Les and Parker clearly worked their butts off to make this batch of knives as awesome as possible.

Curious what the issue was? Gotta pic?

No, I passed.

Personally I’m not seeing the justification of $650 for the dixon. Just my opinion though. But I eventually will look to find one on the secondary in the $500 range.

now im curious...what did ya get or fight for Quiet Quiet ?

I am not wanting to tread on the almighty Mr. George's toes, so all I'll say here is that GiantMouse dropped their GM14 and GMP14s today. I am a huge GM fan, and had to have them. Once those are gone, they won't be made again, and about the closest they'll get is what they do in their ACE line where they make a new (more readily available) knife that kinda more or less looks like the GM knives. Anyway, I was able to score, and so all is well.

As I own a couple of LG Damascus knives already, it wasn't the worst thing in the world to pass on these drops.

Long live King George!!

I had the nazca at one point. Was an excellent knife. Never should have let it go.

Heavy vertical scratching. Thought it might be an odd deformity in the pattern, but Les and Chad discussed and agreed it was a finish issue. In a batch of 150 knives there was bound to be an issue here and there. Les offered to fix it up no problem, so everything is good in my book!

I think it's wide Dixon availability, there were a lot of releases so that they're in stock in multiple colors and patterns at many dealers. The black finish is very rare so far, so they had that going for them. But there's at least one dealer that was selling all of the variants at $625 instead of the $24 markup a lot of people were charging for a milled or anodized version, and some of the smaller dealers that have them don't automatically add taxes, so it was possible to get a Dixon for $625 to your door instead of $720-ish.

To be honest, the DLT ones were and are still super tempting, but the nicest I've seen so far is satin blade with antiqued black frag milling.

I used to be super into GM, but I was glad the GM14 didn't super speak to me. I've bitten on four or so of these releases, but this is the first time I can remember the release coinciding with all the big Christmas sales or drops.

YIKES I'd be unhappy with that one, too. Good thing LG and the Defiant 7 folks are stand-up.

I have had to make difficult decisions this Christmas, that's for sure. Several different things (across three or four of my hobbies) all dropped either this or last week. It's been hectic. I mean, can't catch 'em all.

From all the people it had to be you. That sucks, but since you know Les personally now you will get it back even better than it was intended to be!

The true beauty lies in the fact Les is going to follow up the same whether you are a huge long-time collector or a first time newb. It will be made good upon. Not easy being a One Man (+Parker) Show.

This is true, he has been awesome to deal with during my few virtual interactions with the man. He even sent me some Magnate scales for free! I asked him about swapping my original orange ones with something darker for a deployment, and he immediately offered to send them free of charge.
