Great time and adventure! We drove all night, no sleep, in line for 4.5 hrs. Fourth in line for general admission and got to pick out of 5 or 6 mk3’s left. If we hadn’t damn near ran we wouldn’t have even gotten those. The last of em were sold before we even paid for ours. Early bird was a must but thats a whole other level of crazy!

Show was awesome! Great to see Les. He was definitely a lil overwhelmed and in Shock. His hair was all tussled, it was funny. He definitely wasn’t expecting it! Super happy for Les, probably had the first empty table!

Lol I know you said a week or so ago that you wasn't going. I'm glad I got the proxy that I did 😂. I'm going to try to go to Atlanta this year. Ive never been to one yet. That's cool that you seen the man though!

It was totally last minute, both my girls gave me permission to skip the vb tournament to go. Gotta love em! Plan on being there for hotlanta as well!

Les is cool as fudge sundaes

Did find a gem! May be my new pet project. Developing a propoganda campaign as we speak!

Yep I seen them when they first started selling knives last August at REC anniversary open house, I wish I would've bought one of their blades then. I was mad at myself that day for missing out on Hinderer's booth but it worked out in the end. Very cool guys out of Ohio!
 
Day 13: Steel Saturday

This is a CTS-XHP neck knife and a pry bar made of steel, rather than titanium. It's heavy bugger at over half a pound. Les said these steel pry bars were a nightmare to machine so he likely won't be making any more of them. Even though it's a rudimentary tool, it's cool to see some of Les's extra touches like the fact he carburized the long edges to increase durability.

I appreciate it brother I got extremely lucky. The proxy I had actually stayed the night in line the night before. I spoke with him a couple weeks ago and told him what I wanted but never heard back from him for money or anything so I figured it wasn't happening. Next thing I know I got a message yesterday from him saying I got the blue MK3 that you wanted! I was blown away to say the least! I gave him 75 over table shipped and everything so it was well worth it to me.

Most of my LG knives are XHP. I think it's an excellent steel that you don't have to be concerned about using hard. Magnacut is probably a "better" all-around steel, but for normal day-to-day use, I don't think you'd ever notice the difference aside from Magnacut being dang near corrosion proof.

These charts are never perfect because they don't take heat treatment or manufacturing QC into account, but it's still a useful comparison tool.

I seem to recall an interview with LG........or possibly an "X" post by LG saying that he can hardly tell the difference himself..... but that XHP is sometimes harder to get.
