The New 2014 BladeForums KNIFE Thread!

This new entry is just about what I was hoping for from the beginning, a stag handled #15. I am really liking the looks of this guy. I too would throw my vote behind it, especially in stainless. I don't have many stainless traditionals and would to have one! Thanks everyone for all of your work!

Oh, and the timing of payment, when we get to that point, seems to be coinciding with Father's Day which should prove convenient. :). Hint. Hint.

This new CSC option is pretty sweet. IMO, make it a spear with a pen secondary and it'll be about right. A small knife like that works great in a Jack configuration. :)

WOW, that's what I call rapid prototyping! That jack is very nice...might have to re-think my position. Stag looks so much better in a bare-head frame....

I agree. The bare head looks great. I think a spear will make it prettier when closed. Add a pen and 1095 and It'll be my vote.

Ever since Charlie wrote that CSC would propose a knife on an existing frame, I expressed my wishes for their Barlow frame. Turns out I was right in thinking that it would look great and raise much interest.
I'm not a fan of Barlow bolsters and I prefer a "regular" bolster, so this project gets my vote (even more for a single bladed option).

My vote would go to a single blade because there hasn't yet been a single blade traditional Bladeforums knife. I would prefer a spearpoint blade, but I'll also be okay with a clip. Both Eric's and GEC's offerings look great, and I don't think we can go wrong with either company. This might become a hard choice to make. Either way, the 2014 Bladeforums knife is looking like it's going to be great!

That proto from CS definitely makes the choice much more interesting. I think up until that picture was released it was a landslide in GEC's favor, not so sure anymore. Either way, looks to be a great knife this year for the traditional folk!

Curiouser and curiouser!
So I thought we'd be getting better pictures! We are, but we are also getting another choice of knives. Eric (EA42 on the forums) actually built a prototype, a 3 3/8" Jack. He apologizes for the "white" showing on the Stag, saying it was the only bit in the factory he had to work with. More info to follow.

Very nice! Thank you Eric, for taking the time to make that proto up. I am impressed and it looks great; I like the single blade configuration in both company's offerings. Two versions, spear and clip?

I too am very pleased to see this from Eric. I've been following both threads and have had the feeling that the forum knife was going to be a GEC, and would have the too strong opening pull they're known for. Figured I'd buy one anyway and probably would never carry it.
I'm getting more excited now!

I'm a little torn now but I think the GEC is still just a hair up for me. But that second knife (and in prototype none-the-less!) is night and day from the first one for me, most definitely in the running now. If we could get it in a spear instead of the clip that would be my favorite, I just think a spear fits the frame better. Awesome job Eric, and thanks for the effort, that's pretty great work there. In just the wrong configuration I might not have popped on the trapper, but with this one or the GEC I'm definitely still down for at least 1, if I luck out and the voting goes to my taste might pick up a few. Again, thanks for the extra effort Eric, that is just awesome.

I've been hanging in the background through this. I fall strongly into the user (not collector) category, and I wasn't planning on buying another knife. The JL stag on a waynorth project may be too much to resist. I'm liking the two-blade GEC best, with the newest CSC option as a second choice.

Thanks to all who have ALREADY contributed so much.

Hurray, Canal Street! I was keeping my yap shut because both the previous options were on the big side to my eye, but this is just right!

The CSC prototype looks awesome. Thank you Eric.
I've been trying to keep up as things progress, but has the GEC offering been posted yet?

Love the latest CSC offering. Starting to lean towards this one versus the GEC sample. Regardless of which knife-maker wins, can we all just agree single blade? :)
