The New 2014 BladeForums KNIFE Thread!

That's a great knife. Thanks for your efforts Eric. I could easily go for that. As a matter of fact, I'd go for that over the GEC offering.

Nice. I'd definitely be in for a couple of those. 1095 or 440c either way I'd be good with that, personally. Single clip, pocket friendly size, what's not to like?

I backed the first CSC offer and I'll back this one which I like even better. Nothing wrong with the GEC offer but the size of this new one is more in keeping with my tastes. Good work Eric!

WOW, that's what I call rapid prototyping! That jack is very nice...might have to re-think my position. Stag looks so much better in a bare-head frame....

I'm liking that single blade and the size too . . . It's gonna be a battle! I like the single blade offerings. The GEC or this new prototype from CSC . . . the trapper is ok but this new one is sweet!

Did you hear that GEC?
Second entries welcomed!

If you need an idea, use an existing 3.5" pattern like the White Owl.
Just a suggestion:)

This new jack from Eric would be terrific in their 14-4 stainless, which they already use for the barlows (looks like the same clip blade).
Add a secondary coping or 2/3 length Wharncliffe and it would be perfect.

Adding a second blade would increase the width, compromising pocketability to some extent. That said, I wouldn't really be opposed to a pen or coping blade, but anything with a wharncliffe blade just doesn't do it for me. I've never been able to warm up to them, and I don't expect that to change. That choice was the sole reason I stayed away from the 2012 forum knife. I don't buy knives I know I'd never carry and use. If the majority wants to go with wharncliffe, I respect their choice, but I have to stay out again. My one or two knives purchased won't make that big a difference in the scheme of things, so I hope my choice to be in or not is respected as well.

Really looking forward to this - It'll be my first forum knife. Thanks to everyone who makes this happen.:thumbup:

I am happy to hear of the improved images coming. I am also happy to see another option. This is getting exciting!

Again thanks to all involved in getting the right strings pulled and working for the benefit of the community here. BRAVO!

Chris

Nice work Eric! I definitely like this bare end over the CS trapper. A warncliff or sheepsfoot would look good on this frame too. Looking good.
Thanks Charlie and all involved.

I really love the fact that CSC is totally changing things up and going the extra mile to get the bid for this years forum knife! I was leaning towards GEC but this new pattern from CSC has just changed everything for me and they are getting my vote. I love my CSC Barlow and the Coppersmith Barlow they made for Kabar but I've been saying to everybody I show them to how if I could just have that pen blade removed and the single clip it would be the perfect knife for me as it is a little thick with both blades because I like to carry knives in my watch pocket. Thank you so much Eric for all your hard work and getting that proto thrown together. You really went above and beyond and you have my vote for sure. I would prefer the 14-4 CrMo steel but would be perfectly happy with the 440c or 1095 as well. Especially if the 1095 has the same heat treat process as the old U.S. made Schrades! ;)

Nice work Eric. I really like this offering and being able to see an actual prototype vs a stock pic or illustration.

Homerun, Eric!! Thanks so much for going the extra mile for a Forum knife. This looks amazing, and as much as I love my CSC Kabar Coppersmith, having a single blade of that size will make this one more pocketable. Plus, with a short bolster and no end cap, this prototype shows off more gorgeous stag, as it should.

As much as I love GEC and their proposed Forum knife (I have more GEC than any other brand), the past 3 or more Forum knives have been GEC, and the idea is for a Forum knife to represent the state of the art in modern cutlery, not that of any one particular cutler.
