The new Condor Warlock

I can answer that. Boy can I answer that. By the way, I can answer that. Why? Because I spent 23 hours doing knifey things with it until I was so engulfed in shavings it looked like I owned a saw mil. Its primarily for chopping, but you can go more up on it to get to the "straighter" portion. For the chest lever cuts it works great. Carving using the shoulder is slightly awkard at the beginning, but you adjust FAST, or you can get your finger in front of the guard and it cuts great (and comfortably)

Oh man, thanks for that info, I didn't find the thickness where I was looking, so that does make a pretty large difference. I guess I saw the handle shape and angle and when I didn't see thickness info I just figured it would be the same.

The info about the handle and how it works when doing knifey things was also great, really appreciate it.

So it seems that the dundee will likely be a bit more pricey then, as its thicker, slightly longer, and has a cooler blade shape (you know that comes into account). I also noticed it seems to have a smaller "choil" type spot before the grind starts, which I guess is nice.

I think I'll be sending about half of my tax return to Baryonyx. :D
One of my New Year's resolutions is to only buy from guys on this forum. So far I'm on track.

Hmm, interesting the new Parang's have the old Golok grip and the new Goloks have the old Parangs.

Nice job on the Dadao and the Warlock, ill be buying both. Any idea when they will be available?

Also for future reference id love to have a 2 inch longer bladed or thicker steeled original Golok, i dont know if thats in the works but it would be something id buy.

I would want the Kukri, but I just cant justify the purchase of a large fixed blade at this point in my life when folders and small fixed blades can accomplish all of my cutting tasks. They all look like good knives even though I cant justify the purchase.

No complaints here! :D

The way things are looking I'll be doing my best to carry as many of these as possible. And probably keep a few for myself as well. :p Almost every knife I acquired last year was designed by Joe. Looks like this year will be the same.

I actually don't own any condor blades yet (sad I know). I've had my eye on the golok as something I might give my parents for their cabin, but never really looked at most of the rest of their line.

Because I'm kind of condor-uneducated, how much (guestimate) will these things cost when they come out?

Also, I know 1075 should be fine, but what is the main difference between it and the 1095 I'm more used to (mostly have Beckers and KaBars right now).

FortyTwoBlades answered the question really well, but I'd like to add the practical difference between 1075 and 1095. The heat treatment for 1095 is relatively much more involved, since the best treatments for it require a certain maintained heat for a soak...while a good treatment for 1075 doesn't really require a soak.
Anywho, I can vouch for Condor's 1075. It's tough stuff and holds an edge well enough.

Joezilla,
Great designs, man!
I'm especially looking forward to the Warlock, Pack Golok, Dundee, and Dadao!

Adios,
Joe

The Warlock machete look like a perfect Parang, definitively I will love to buy 1 and I will :D

Oh man so many home runs this year, that Kukri is a must have, can't wait. I'll probably end up with a few of Parangs as well, and maybe a Dundee.

(2012 is going to be a good year.)

I' d bet a nickel that the heavy duty kukri is gonna be a hot item....

Its first on my list.

Lotsa nice stuff. Kukri is very nice: is it flat or convex ground above the edge bevel? If this one sells maybe a 16-18" one will follow?
BTW, that dao is a beast!

Edit: looked at photo site, loving the loch nessmuk and the woodlaw - I could get all sorts of use out of those.

The pack golok knife looks killer I'd also love to have the Dundee Bowie Condor IMO has really out done themselves this year.

Yep. Lots of good stuff in the lineup this year. I know where (almost) all my knife spending money is going to.

condor needs a manufacturer sub-forum, or is there one already and i'm not finding it. Becoming more and more a fan of the products, already have the Barong, and just ordered a Golok from Baryonyx.

Agreed. I was actually checking that out today as well.

I'm a fan of high value blades, and it appears to me that they have some pretty good values in their lineup.

Some of their lineup seems a bit gimicky personally (not into two handed sword-machetes or things like that), but like I said before, the Golok seems like quite a nice piece, and some of these new models seem promising.

When you realize that most folks buying swords these days aren't serious practitioners, but just dudes wanting to chop s*** up in their back yards, sword/machete hybrids are the low cost alternative with the potential for practical use as well.

By the way, they DO have an unofficial subforum on another site. One that has something to do with bushcraft. ;) It would be nice if they had one here too, though.

I really like the designs of the machetes, heavy SE asia influence. Lot of it we use in our escrima/kali class. Pretty much proven designs, and the quality of the products for price points can't be beat.
