Bliss, if only for a few hours of my life.

The next morning.

Uyotg, believe me when I say that when all is said and done, the few hours such as you just showed us make up for all the rest.

My planned 26-miler got cut in half(think this was almost exactly 13 miles, 6.5 in and back) after life got in the way, but yesterday evening and this morning were all mine! Part of this was new to me-Odum Scout Trail in Cheaha Wilderness Area, Talladega National Forest. Hiked in, and part of the way back out before sunrise yesterday, and headed for home this morning. It was a nice hike, and I really enjoyed it.
It begins at the intersection of the Pinhoti and Chinnabee Silent trails on top of Little Caney Head mountain, rises a bit, then gradually falls as it follows the ridgeline of Odum Point mountain for ~4 miles down to High Falls.

High Falls. Too bad it was practically dry on my first time to see it.

This would be a nice secondary fall or cascade if the water were flowing.

I camped on the ridge about 15-20 minutes above the falls, and had better cell phone reception than I do at home!

I had a visitor last night.

Actually had lots of visitors, as there was quite a bit of coming and going right before I fell asleep. Something even walked across my "porch", a 5x7' BCUSA ground sheet that I usually put alongside my bivy.
While I was sitting on it after making that video, though, this little joker kept trying to join me, even after being slapped away several times. Finally, I grabbed a stick and stabbed him in the eye, as I've heard that will deter a predator. Since he was kind of small, it really stabbed, well...all of him.

Not really survival or camping, just a trip with my grilfriend in Northern France with a lot of long walks and awesome picknicks.

The chalky coastline (Cap-Blanc-Nez) at high tide.

Most people look at the sea, I search the cliffs for fossils...

This is me at my family ranch. I was practicing with my tomahawk and knife, to prepare for any trespassers that try to get on my land.
:D

Ah! Sorry, I thought it was some technical caving term :o 8-10 miles of cave... wow, that's awesome. I've never been in a cave that runs so far/deep before.

I went for a short canoe trip on my local river yesterday, the Buffalo River in Tennessee. It wasn't really a fishing trip, just a bit of "me time".

Great looking views Codger. I was on the Buffalo a couple of months back and it is a very beautiful scenic place. Me and a couple of buddies found a nice waterfall back in an alcove. It was 2 tiered so we climbed up to the top tier and stood in the waterfall. Amazingly cold water, especially during the heat of summer. Was definitely a great place to rest and cool off. Glad to see someone on the forums who lives fairly close by. Thanks for the pics!
