This is how I did.

Finally spent some time today getting to know my KME sharpening system more intimately. Started with a $10 Kershaw, moved up to a $30 ESEE, and then went to a $65 BK-16.
I very much like this system and will be doing a more thorough write-up, maybe here and in Ka-Bar, as I get to know it even better. It put one hell of an edge on my 16 in just a short time.
Here's a quick cell phone picture.

Looking good Guyon.

I keep telling myself i need a KME!! Eventually.

You really do need one Supes. I've got one and it's great! The only thing I need to get now is the diamond stones, and the strop stones. I probably need to get a new carrier too. Mine is the old style.

LMAO!!

Yea i do need one. But when i start thinking of buying one.... then i start thinking about the main blades i use are pretty large and thick and im not sure the KME would be very efficient for them.. Again i dont know that for sure though, but i seems like even the BK9 is a little long for it... Does it work well with the BK2.... because of how thick it is?

Eventually ill probably still grab one for all my "normal" sized knives. It looks close to fool proof... I hope so LMAO

The BK-2 does work just fine. The BK-9 even works no problem you just tighten up the spring in the back of it and will hold it no problem.

See, 9 works just fine.

Yeah, the KME is pretty good. I use it or the Work Sharp on all my knives. Maybe you can get them to put out a "WW Sword Edition" for you.:D

I'm not sure if I've mentioned this... GET THE DIAMOND STONES! It's an extra $25, and it's SO worth it! But if you're getting the diamond stones with the kit you only get the 300, 600, and 1500, so you have to get the 50 and 100 separately.

Im not sure the average american can even tell which way is north from their own home without a compass... Sad. I blame technology.

These days everyone is relying on GPS systems to go to the grocery store. They go 10 times and still dont remember how to get there without TomTom LMAO

Lots of different "Norths"

Doc

Ok, then what are they?

I was afraid this might happen.

I was snarking Wood about his comment. I started not to post that comment because it could cause a lengthy discussion which I do not have the desire to entertain. I just don't have the patience that Crimson and Tanker still have to go into extended explanations anymore. I have been beat up in forums by too many folks over the years who know more than I do...

Sorry I mentioned it... You are right.. there are only two.

My apologies.

I wasn't trying to be sarcastic, if there are more than just the two I want to know. Tanker has already mentioned one I never would have thought about. Hell I'm not sure what "Grid North" is to be honest.

I do actually think we are guaranteed. If it didn't appear, the character string would be definitionally not random. By the parameters of the set, I think every possible character sequence has to be included, or else it wouldn't be infinite or random. I'm pretty sure that's why that theorem works. I would venture to say that, given an infinite period of time or infinite possible universes, ALL things are guaranteed.

Of course, since we don't have an infinite period of time, on a practical scale, this all is entirely tautological, so your point is still well taken.

Good grief eggheads, give it a rest with the big words already. You're making my last brain cell hurt. Who brought that stoopid topic up, anyway? :grumpy:

Oh wait.... never mind :o

In other news, I'm beginning to suspect that Thirstday may come early this week. No particular reason. But statistically, it's highly possible :D

My wife is a lot smarter than me, but she gets thoroughly confused when I give her directions, even in our own dang garden. "Tell me right or left, not east or west!" Well um... R or L changes depending on where you started from. For our practical purposes, NESW stays the same regardless...

We're not circumnavigating the globe or launching a freakin' Space Shuttle here, I just want her to plant the corn where it will get the most sun :D

Got to 95° here today, new shop at my buddies warehouse nowhere close to done, meaning of coarse no air condition. Drank over a gallon and a half of water. Never pissed once. Still. 10 times better than previous shithole.

That is all......Carry on.

Cbear. You need to get your ass of the couch and get a job already. WW gonna be pissed you top his post count! Lol. :D

Besides......... I got a desk knife sitting here to sell you.

I'm curious now as well. Grid north is the north in reference to the national grid system. (i.e. like on a map.) The declination diagram on the map is used to decipher the changes from "map" north to compass (magnetic) north.

I didn't think you were being sarcastic, I am just getting kind of jaded in my old age, not to mention lazy. I just end up typing a bunch of in depth things that, in the end, someone (not you) will want to argue about, or debate, and it just goes on and on... I just don't care to play anymore.

But in fairness, since I brought it up, I'll say this.

There are lots of "National" grids, hence lots of Norths... Hell, Florida has 3. Magnetic North changes everywhere, all the time (declination). The magnetic field is dynamic so magnetic North is always changing. True North.. well.. whats true?.. NAD 1927's Clark ellipsoid of 1866? , NAD 1983's WGS 84? Astronomic North (Polaris) or South (the Southern Cross)? And that is just the U.S.A. Other countries have their own systems. It gets more even involved, but this isn't the place for it. And GPS threw a whole 'nother wrench in it. (It's based on WGS 84). Then there's GLONASS (Russia's GPS equivalent) Galileo (Europe's GPS equivalent, and a couple other's I can't recall the name of.

Lots of Norths
