the next rhino????

Guys, it looks like we can't help on this one, we don't work on blades with curved edges - it requires either hand filing or a curved serration wheel.

Sorry guys....

On to more important matters. Anyone got their spare Commader done yet and tried it out ?

Mine is still on the way for it's magical makeover, so I have a long time to wait before I get my hands on it.

To John Hollister: If putting serrations on that escellent conversion Commander of yours is still a problem. How about contacting spyderco if they would be willing to do it for you as an exception or something. They must have the proper equipment, for their Civilians and Matriarchs and such.

I never realized that serrating the top edge was going to be as big a pain as it has become.

Good thinking on the Spyderco thing. The knife is off to a knife maker friend of a friend right now. He's going to see what he can do, but "no promises".

I should know for sure in the next few days if this will all through or not.

Bill originally had suggested doing serrations by hand, probably should have explored that. Sort of "Ryan'ish".

I'll let ya'll know.

John if you do end up doing the serrationa yourself might I suggest alternating sides like WARRIOR type serrations. They are suppose to be better rippers and I think since they are the same size and larger than standard serrations they would be less work.
Heck, if you are going to try SPYDERCO for help why not drop REKAT a note also? These serrations would be very much like those on the POCKET HOBBIT.

Update

I heard back from the friend of a friend. It's a good news, bad news kind of thing. Good news is he can serrate the top edge, bad news is that it has to be done by hand and will not match the bottom serrations.

We decided on two sided serrations similar to the Hobbit (as suggested by "Knife Thrower"). I told him to knock himself out, do what works.

Funny part is, Bill offered to do hand cut serrations from the get go. Should have taken him up on it in the begining.

Should be cool.

I'll let you know what I hear.

John

(Anyone else get theirs yet?)

Bill has done mine and it is on it's way to me as I type this.

I'm just going to have to grab the mail man each day till I get it I suppose !
