Any way to lock this thread to just your posts or posts by Jo? That way, chatter/comments can be relegated to the 'Random Thoughts' or 'After Sale Lounge' threads.

Too easy to inadvertently add chatter to this thread by following the 'subscriptions' links.
Please do not do this, Nathan. The whole point of this place is chat. It makes sense to limit posts in the the CPK Buy, Sell or Trade thread because people get alerts for new posts on that thread to try to obtain your knives when they come up at any random time. Who is getting alerts on this thread and why? Your sales are not random events that require alerts. They are annouced well in advance. AFAIK, most if not all happen at Fridays at 3 PM ET.

IMO, limiting chat here should be done with a light touch. It's your forum, of course, but I think this is a bad idea that would take this place toward an unfriendly path.

Here here, I second this motion 😁

Since this Friday will be the first sale I've had the opportunity to participate in , I have a quick question.
Will the knives that are up for sale be posted before the sale actually opens? I've been searching through this thread and I found a post indicating something along those lines, but wanted to make sure that was still the practice.

Agreed! I will be my first sale and curious how it all works

Nathan will post a long and detailed description of what's available, but that will trigger the sale. If you take the time to read it, you will be far too late to buy anything. You have to keep refreshing the page and when you see the post, reply as quickly as possible with a single character. If you luck into one of the first few spots, then you are in. If after carefully reading about what is available, you don't want it, you can edit your post to say, sorry, please pass on my spot. Everyone below you will only be happy.
ETA a recent sales thread is worth looking at.

And I believe it will be posted in the CPK forum and not in the normal “knife maker’s market - fixed blades” forum.

Whoops

Not usualy. But sometimes. And I had it wrong in this week's sale notice so I have corrected it. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Our sale, this Friday, will be out in the main sale area.

You gotta keep trying, it may take months or a year…….but eventually you will get through…..and imagine how great it’s gonna feel!!!!!

Of course you could buy a CPK knife in the sales area for a little more $….but winning it is half the fun!!!!

Once I get one I’m gonna be holding onto that knife forever. I’m gonna be buried with it.

Thanks for the update sir!!!!!!

You guys can also ask for a "proxy" in the "Ask for a Proxy" thread that can try to win a spot for you. There used to be a "proxy thread", but all I can find is the thread that I linked to that seems to be more of a chit-chat thread, so I really don't know what's going on anymore. It is usually the best bet for newer guys. That and the Pre-Order sales.
There is also a "Friday sale practice thread" that yall can practice your speed on. Good luck!

Here is "how it all works."

On Friday at 3 PM EST, Nathan unlocks a thread here: https://www.bladeforums.com/forums/for-sale-fixed-blades.754/

At that point, the Internet slows to a bare crawl as a massive number of folks with good judgment about knives refresh and refresh and refresh their browsers until the sales thread magically appears.

Then you and this host of others will all try, and fail, to be among the first 15 people to post on that thread with a single letter or character, like a period, without having read a single word of the original post. If you try to be a wiseguy and post an entire word like "IN" or, God forbid, an entire sentence like "I'll take one" then you will find that your post is number eleventy seven on page 8 of the thread, and everyone else will point and laugh. Afterwards, everyone cries and then gets drunk to drown the sorrows of another failed attempt.

Nathan is a real good guy to have these sales late on Fridays so everyone is not coming to work the next day depressed with a massive hangover.

Today sale will be a casual leisurely one right?
Come on, it's Dec 30th, everybody is busy for new year.
Nathan does not anticipate many participants, thats why he only prepares 15 knives.
It will be open untill january 2nd.
😉😁
