The Official Lanyard Thread

I currently only have a couple, both made from leather boot lace. Nothing special but I'm happy with them.

The one on my CRK was my first attempt and ended up developing a twist in it. I was going to cut it off and try again but I've just left it for now, as honestly it doesn't bother me. Then I have one on my Bugout, with a fancy brass bead purchased from the plumbing aisle of ACE Hardware ;). Also put one on my Vic Rambler, though with that one I didn't tie a not, just slit the leather and passed it through.

Ace is the place for the EDC guy...
Who hasn't checked out brass.....

I like that mod too, Gary W. Graley Gary W. Graley .

I've got a couple of very similar knives here-- Russian heritage, anodized Ti frame locks, long, straight, slender, with M390 blades--with very similar lanyards to boot. Both are tied in one of my favorite 550 patterns--all-nylon King Tut--each with one of my several ferruled blue glass beads which don't bang up the ano'd finish on the knives. The MILK has two False Turks Head knots and my brand new Olamic Rainmaker features two extended Crown and Diamonds.

The one on the manix still needs a little tweaking. It’s not as tight as I want it.
The one on the para3 is just overhand knots; I just can’t get that leather to do anything else.
I think the bead goes well with the Lynch clip.

These are all super nice examples of lanyards. I find them to be required on certain knives for ease of pulling from pocket but you can't deny how nice some of these look. I've just been using a really basic one but I'll definitely be trying some of the ones in this thread out.

I leave my lanyards out. They've gotten longer and floppier over the years and hang down prominently. I'll leave it to Feca10ne Feca10ne to determine what that symbolizes. In a crowd or more urban environment I'll tuck it in. I could make 'em six feet long for social distancing purposes. :p

Favorite metal bead? There's a lot, so here are some....

I got kinda carried away here. I've got lotsa more modest ones that match knives well that I'm particularly fond of too.

I'm really pleased to have a Plain Jane CRK back in my collection as I traded away my PJ 25 a while back as part of a deal for a Shiro. As this Inkosi Insingo is a very modest-looking knife I figured a modest looking lanyard was most appropriate. I chose this black/grey 550 Nylon and a smallish Ti bead with a touch of blue ano to match the thumb studs surrounded by 6 snake knots. The knots are just big enough to keep the bead from banging on the slabs and clip excessively and accelerating the wear on what will be a user anyway.
