The Official Lanyard Thread

That's a good way to do it right there! Myself I really like it when they put in a hidden lanyard pin, that's about my favourite method for attaching lanyards, like on this

and as noted before, sometimes I'll make my own lanyard pin, this one is a whittle piece of bamboo that I whittled down each end which left the middle section thick so it isn't able to slide out, of course you need to remove the scales in order to put the pin in place and also run with just two screws on the clip as in this situation of my Spyderco Tenacious.

3x 32" DIY chain lanyards. 1 each connected to a Leatherman Charge TTI+ multi tool, a (58mm) SAK Mini Champ, and (85mm) SAK Evo Grip 14. Anchor ends to a Nite-Ize belt loop key ring.

Potted plant hanger chain. 100# test saltwater fishing snap swivels for each end will be here this weekend, if Amazon is being truthful.

Wow! Do you wear that? That's awesome!

Practice is good, here's a link to a tutorial I made a while back that may help others that want to give this a go.

I get the second knot 'tied' and then pull it in tighter with small pliers, usually my Swiss Army Tool, works great and provides a solid grip to the cord, when done, both knots feel hard as a rock, very very tightly knotted.

And I've also seen those youtube vid's with the finger thingy, for my needs that would never work so I've not even tried to follow that example.

The forum links seem to have been broken lately, here's a link to my tutorial that I made a while back;

Thanks. 😷
I only wear them when I'm not in the shower. 😷👍

Y'all can call me "crazy" (I won't deny it. It keeps me from going insane, as Mr Willie Nelson (or was it Mr. Waylon Jennings?), I believe it is was used to say) and/or "stupid", but I am somewhat paranoid about losing them. (and about someone lifting my wallet (again) when I are out and about.) The lanyards ensure I don't lose them.
I've had a biker/trucker chain wallet since 1973, when my wallet went AWOL the first (and to date the only) time.

Not crazy at all, that setup is legit, I would rock one of those! I love the chain but the line "It keeps you from losing everything but your mind!" comes to me, haha. 😁
Love Willie & Waylon & Hank!

Yup, like this.

I've been finishing the ends of my paracord a little different now, basically passing the lighter back and forth, wrapping around the sides and rotating the cord 90 degrees so it makes it a more even melt. You end up with a nice smooth end of the cord, of course it depends on the brand of paracord as to how well it will take to this method.

here's the end of one of my recent lanyards, I stagger the cords at the end of the lanyard, just looks nicer to my eyes ;)

and a video taken showing how just heating up the end and then the 'new' way that I am doing the ends, phone focusing was frustrating but you get the idea.

Anyone have suggestions on color or colors that would work with the BladeHQ bugout?
I like the thinner #275 but a gutted #550 would work also. Pics appreciated

I agree with Phil on those colour options, I recently picked up some paracord from these guys that was well made, check out the this version, grab a small bag to start with to see if you'll like it. What I do when it arrives is to take a strong rubber band and wrap that around the loops to help keep it altogether, and then just carefully pull the cord out as you need it, threading it through the rubber band.

also, leaving the inner strands provides a better size knot, easier to draw the knife out with, so I'm not a proponent of removing the inner stuff unless absolutely necessary.

on this one when I tied it around the last spacer, I had to burrow down through the outer jacket, hook the inner strands and pull out a loop so that I could snip it there and pull the inner strands out only about 3" so that the loop around the spacer was JUST the outer jacket, otherwise the blade would hit and cut the paracord. It is not an easy process, at least not for me!
