The Official Lanyard Thread

Got some braided leather and tied a lanyard knot at end.
Thought about gluing a turquoise chip halfway down.
Will it hold?

Modern glues can do wonders. I wouldn't chance it personally. These fobs take quite a bit of abuse in the day to day moving around.

The knots you tied look great!
What is the problem you are having with the crown knots?
You should start with a string 2 or 3 times longer then you need. (you can trim it down to size once you get used to making them) I practice with the same string till I feel it is right. It helps to identify one end of the strings so that you start each knot with the same leg. Also some knots just don't stack well. You could put a snake knot between them.
Let us know and we will all try and help.

Thanks for the compliment!
First, I haven’t done more than a few crowns. The more I practice the better I’ll get.
Second, that #275 is pretty stiff, it takes a bit of handling to loosen it up.
This might be one of my issues also:
It helps to identify one end of the strings so that you start each knot with the same leg.

At least I’ve gotten to a point where snake knots are almost memorized.

Two posts in a row, two days apart has me installing my newly arrived Jekyll to Hyde backspacer in my Damascus large 31. This is absolutely my favorite type of lanyard attachment, featured on a fair number of my Russian as well as a few other knives, and is the third one of these I acquired for CRKs. I've ordered a CF bead with streaks of white resin that mimics the knife's Black Boomerang blade, but it will take a while to arrive. I bought this bead from another maker a while back as I liked it a lot and have tied it up here with two diamond knots as a placeholder. It actually brings a bit of warmth to what's an otherwise austere knife, so I'll just wait for the other to arrive to figure which I like better. I've left the tails extra long to give myself the chance to re-use the blue Moonglow 550 cord--it'll be a bit of a challenge to re-tie another diamond, but one I've managed before.

Thanks sir, it's a fairly heavy cord and well made too so it's a little harder to tie but you end up with some solid knots.
