The Official Lanyard Thread

I'll follow up sonofwilfred sonofwilfred 's post with a bead he knows on my recently acquired Al Mar SERE 2000. I'd been offered and almost purchased a nicely re-profiled like new OD green scaled knife but really preferred the black and I'm glad I waited. I found the bright clip hiding under the box foam and changed it up today when I finished tuning the knife after tying up the tail yesterday.

The bead kinda mimics the Al Mar logo and the black 550 maintains the overall color scheme.

The bead is a nice match mate. That knife is a real treasure too 👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks, Dan, on both counts. I thought of that bead right away when I got the knife, and, yeah, I couldn't be any more pleased with the SERE. It's just so solid and old school--everything you need, nothing you don't and so well made. I keep spinning it around in my hand and admiring all the simple details and the great F&F.

I've got two other Fadden era Al Mars--an Eagle Talon in cocobolo and a Falcon Talon in black polished Micarta. I've got my eye out for an AM/Moki-made Eagle Ultra-Light now. Of course the same thing in the HD version with ZDP189 would be great, but there aren't many out there and they cost a fortune if you can even find one.

It was after taking the pic above that I noticed the loose lobe in the first diamond knot  and got it tightened up,
