The "Official" T.M. Hunt Custom Knives Random Chat Thread

Well, duh!

original_zps44bfd977.gif

I've got facebook, twitter, instagram, tumblr and pintrest. Don't know why, but for some reason the pintrest is the easiest for me to neglect. I just can't get into the format. I maintain it though.

I'm only on here and Pintrest. I ditched FB and instagram. Never had twitter or tumblr. The only reason I have Pinterest is I can find some pretty good images of knives on there. Then I'll look them up on my laptop later. It's a great referencing tool, in my book, but not very interactive, which I'm ok with.

Well that was awkward: this post was supposed to go to the pocket dump thread. Oh well..... snark?

My wife somehow signed me up for Linkedin, 'cause we kind of have a small business. But I've reached my limit as to the social media that I maintain. I do not care what Linkedin thinks of me.

I'm on 4 forums ( here,ESEE, BCUSA and Equip2Endure)- other than that the only thing I'm on is Youtube and unfortunately Google+. My wife merged our Facebook accounts together because she got tired of checking mine and relaying messages to me. She also manages a Facebook page for my paracord venture.

Awe man, I totally spaced E2E and Youtube. I'm on both of those. I mostly lurk in E2E, and just use the YT to subscribe to certain informational channels (like preparedmind101 averageiowaguy and Jonny1280's pages). I'll ocassionally comment on certain things I find interesting or if I have something to offer, but I won't blast through pages giving thumbs down, LOL.

And, damn!!! I'm also on Knife Journal forums..........geez.

ok, so its: BF, YT, E2E, KJ, Pintrest

I got to re-evaluate my social networking. Time to dump some things, probably KJ becaus hardly anyone posts on the forum, instead they use FB a lot.

I'm stretching myself thin.....again.

My Dad's killing me. He just sent me a picture..... I had to leave my project Willys CJ3B back in Southern Indiana when I moved up to the "big city." He will occasionally work on it when he has a little time, then torture me with a picture of two of the progress knowing full well that I would love to be down there working on it.

Well, he has the body sandblasted and primed now!

We just need to work on the replacement panels now. :D

That's gonna be a fine rig once again. What's the Jeep in the top right corner?

Its a M151 that's in the shop for a restoration. I'll see if I can source a good picture or two of it.

Here you go, Murph. He sent me some fresh pictures as well as a few W.I.P. shots.
The M151 "Mutt" was brought in for a full restoration. It had an aftermarket replacement body that had been painted, but the body wasn't quite to the same specs of the original and the paint was flaking off. His job was to restore it and to make the aftermarket body to resemble an original body. When it is complete, it is going to be decked out with a Roll Over Protection Structure (retrofit military roll cage), a few strobe lights, several antennae, and some nice vintage radio equipment.

As it sits now:

Ok.... Here was one of the glaring differences. The market light buckets are square in the repo body, but rounded on the original.

After a bit of surgery and some donated body parts from some beat to snot bodies it matches pretty darn close now.

M151's also have an independent suspension.... Think of a Jeep sized HMMWV.

The M151 A1 models had some issues here.... Hit a good corner too fast and the rear suspension would buckle underneath causing the vehicle to flip and unfortunately seriously injure or kill the GI's in it. They modified the rear suspension design in the A2 model AND provided a retro-fit "Roll Over Protection Structure" that could be added to the vehicle. This one is an A2 and the owner has a nice R.O.P.S. for it.

Oh hell yes! That's quite a project man.
Thanks, I'll pass it on to him. It's a neat one for sure! For not being "Jeeps," I like the MUTTS. Jeep size, look, capability and feel; however, they will run interstate speeds if you let 'em.

Those are some awesome pics. I'm not a gear head by any means, but I can appreciate a good build. Nice work Jerry and Jerry's dad!!

Thanks, but I deserve no credit here. It's all my old man. I haven't been able to help out with any of them other than my own Jeep since I moved up to the city a little more than a year ago.
