The "Official" T.M. Hunt Custom Knives Random Chat Thread

Cold, wet, miserable, not a problem. I just worry about the bike on wet roads.

coldest I've ridden in was 22f and light snow :( that was a very quick trip down the highway lol. 150+mph for 2min of freezing my nuts. Will never do that again if I don't have to...yay the cold north.

I had the chance to mess around with an M-18 this weekend. I might have to sell my soul to a casting company to be able to get ahold of ones of these again.

You like that did ya? Who's was that? ( I'm to lazy to go look it up on my list )

It was Bladite's. He brought a bag of goodies to the gathering and was eager to let us test them out.

Very, very nice work Todd. I wish I had more money so I could add one of those to my collection.

Someday.

Oh, yeah, it threw me off. He's got two of them. Did he have the one with the Osage handles there too?

Nope, He only brought that one. I think my heart would have exploded if I held two at the same time.

Jeremy

Bladite got a hell of a deal on that one. I wasn't working at the time, or he would have never seen it, haha.

Todd, I think it would be badass if you took a spent 9mm shell casing and used it on the handle of the M9 like you would a mosaic pin. As decoration of course, doubt it would be great as a pin to actually hold things together but as a decoration it would be awesome!!!

Todd, if you use the cartridge base/inlay idea I have a bunch of 9mm and .223 I can send you... I picked 'em up for the same purpose. No using .50's though... that idea is mine.

Nu-uh.... I had that ideas already all by me self. :p

:D

For real though, I was looking at mosaic pins this morning and i have this .45 cal bullet bead here and it got me to thinking about how it would be cool to put different size shell casings in knife handles like a mosaic pin. No particular size really but when i started looking up spent ammo rounds and seen 9mm ones i thought it would be neat in Todd's M9.

Of course i was just playing with the idea as i dont have a particular knife in mind that i would do it to YET... But i couldnt find anything on google images where someone has done it yet. That doesnt mean it hasnt been done yet, different search terms might could find some.... I tried quite a few different search terms though so i think that does kind of mean its not something thats been done a lot.

Cool ideas, and just so you know I have done it before, but I don't really think the idea BELONGS to anybody. People have been putting shell casing in all kinds of crafty stuff for years. I made motor cycle parts and semi truck shift knobs with shell casings in them. Its not difficult, just a matter of drilling the right sized hole........

Back when I had a Harley I made cover for the end of my handle grip with a 12 gauge shotgun shell. You could remove it and you could stash some money in it for emergency gas or beer money. It was pretty slick. Now they sell just about the same damn thing in catalogs. I should of patent it. I'd be rich now.

One of the awesome things about working nights is drinking in the morning. I don't have any of the guilt since it's like night time for me but I still get to pretend I'm being irresponsible.

Ahhh the ol' drunk when the sun comes up... Used to have to work nights doing rig repair when it was too hot in the shop to work during the day. However, then I'd have to get up after sneaking in a few minutes of sleep and be a responsible parent... That stuff will make you old quick, or does it get old quick? Whatever something about quick and old I'm sure... lol

Well it's a good thing I'm single without kids. I guess it really doesn't matter what time of day I get drunk. If you'll excuse me, I have to get back to not having any responsibilities.

I'll be here, I am the one who has two children mauling him to death while he attempts to type a short response on bladeforums. lol one is now an astronaut, or a robot... not sure. happens that fast. lol

You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning.

Hmm... I heard that somewhere recently... oh yeah it was on Becker Mountain... :D off to the Quote Thread with you...

You're absolutely right

I looked at my brass stash, and I also have .45ACP and .40 auto cartridges if you need ever 'em.

What got me started on this whole idea years ago, was to use a case bottom as an inlay on a custom hunting knife... the same caliber as the dude hunts with. (say he hunts deer with a 30-06... you get the idea) As Todd said, I'm obviously not the first dude to have that idea, but it's still fun and cool.

I still call dibs on the .50BMG thang, though ;)
