Had a look and the 566 took 8 months from announced to YouTube unboxings. Not gonna wait that long gonna order a 566 to get my flip on.... I'm all watered up for a ZT EDC..

This knife is calling to me. But it's good that I have some time to think about it. This may sound strange, but I have a love/hate relationship with the KVT bearing system. I love how it opens, if the detent is strong enough. But I don't really like how it closes. My 0560 blade moves so freely that during closing, I often bump the blade and re-lock the knife. Probably just me. I also have some reservations about the new pocket clip on the 0562. It looks like it will ride very deep. Nice for stealth, but not so nice to get out of the pocket.

I put a small (about 3") lanyard on all of my tip up folders for this very reason. I can leave it out of the pocket for most circumstances, but can stuff it in for uberstealth.

definitely excited about the m390 version. Sold my 0561 because the cutting geometry and blade grind were a bit too fat for me to enjoy, but the slicer grind hopefully will result in a reasonable thickness behind the edge, and that m390! No need to elaborate :) Will own.

I pre-ordered the 0562CF and 0620CF on BladeHQ this morning. Now to forget about them for a while. :D

Not that things can't change drastically but a ZT customer service person mentioned that they would expect it to be at least 6-8 months before the 0562CF hits the market. My guess is that's a standard estimate for stuff released at the shot show to hit the market, sock away $40 a month and it's paid for. Perhaps longer, it wouldn't surprise as more shops open up pre-orders the first couple batches are sold before they hit the market.

Did the pre order for the 940-1 and ZT 0562CF. Figure that's my tax refund and my birthday in Oct all sorted.

It looks nice, but my 0560 has served me well and will continue to do so. I'm not really compelled to get one, but I may if there's a good deal floating around some time later.

I preordered 566 after shot and wound up canceling and buying from a retailer who had them before the place I pre-ordered from. I will not be doing that again. I like the slicer grind of the 562 but this 566 hasn't left my pocket since I got it.

Just threw in my preorder. Very excited to play with KVT, a slicer grind, CF, and M390 in a neat titanium framelock package. Very excited

This is the first time I've bothered to pre order a knife - I figure $240 for a CF/Ti bearing M390 flipper framelock means I won't be seeing one for a couple months after release otherwise. Funnily enough, I had just been looking at getting a Direware because I couldn't find another overbuilt framelock M390 flipper... But here one is at 1/5 the price. I just have to wait - which is a decent trade-off for saving $900. I'll just carry my 0561BW to tide me over.

OK, a few facts on this one for those who didn't get to SHOT show and haven't seen the videos. We love the 0560 and still do. However, when we worked with Rick on the 0562 design, we decided to try to incorporate feedback from our customers to try and make it even better. in the end, it's a different knife - flat scales, new grind, new clip, etc. I still hope everyone buys both an 0560 and an 0562. However, I really like the new features we incorporated in the 0562, and I think most users will like them as well.

1. The thumbstud / stop pin debate:

Soooo... Are they thumb studs or blade stops? :p Nice knives!

Yes, we intend these to be dedicated blade stops, not thumb studs.

More like they designed them to be blade stops from the beginning that could be backup thumb studs if really needed. I guess they got tired of everyone complaining so they just took that option away.

This is exactly correct - people were frustrated with the knife being hard to open with the thumbstuds, so we decided to make them a ONLY function as stop pin.

So to solve the "it's too hard to open with the thumbstuds" problem they just completely rendered the thumbstuds useless?
Not sure I follow that logic... but ok.

I understand that some will miss the thumbstud option, but it is very difficult to make every knife open exactly the same on a mass production level. We continue to work on improving this process, but this time around we decided that this knife would just be a flipper. The thumbstud is purposely conical on top and narrow. In this instance, it is solely intended to be used as a stop pin.

2. Slicer Grind - The slicer grind has been really popular for Rick, and we like it too. It makes the flat grind slice better, but the blade is still thick and tough. It's a nice new option.

3. No jimping by the flipper in the closed position - We made the top of the handle smooth because we'd heard some people didn't like catching the jimping on the handle when they pull the flipper to open the knife.

4. Smaller/Slimmer - The 0560 is a little big for some people because, well, it's a big knife. The 0562 is a really nice size, and ti's also a lot slimmer in the pocket.

5. New deep carry clip - The new clip is low profile and carries nice and deep. It is also clearly inspired by Rick's standard XM-18 clip. Another nod to Rick's style.

6. Hardened steel lockbar insert - Replaceable and reduces the chance of lockbar stickiness. We've been useing these more and more often, and they've been working out well.

7. Oversized decorative pivot hardware - not a functional upgrade, but adds a cool custom look.

8. M390 / Carbon Fiber - Lots of people asked for these things, and now they're available in a production piece. And the price is till quite reasonable in my humble (and biased :) ) opinion.

9. Price - The Elmax version is $250 and the M390 version is $300. Street prices will likely be about 20% less than that. Bang for your buck should be high with these two pieces.

10. 0562 versus 0566 - I am hearing a lot of this comparison in this thread, but bear in mind, these really are different animals. The 0566 is smaller, speedsafe, and a steel framelock. The 0562 is larger, thicker, and KVT. I sound like a shill here, but check them both out. They are both great EDC sizes, but they are more different than it appears on paper.

Anyhow, that's how I see it. :)
