Some more german pics. This time the blackforest again. :D
The pictures were taken about two months ago.

This is the trail to a place called "Zweiseenblick".

At around 1300m. You can see the Titisee (yes, that name's for real!) in the background.

I'll do some more hikes in summer, when all the trails are accessable. I also plan to sleep outside at a campfire this summer. There are no dangerous animals, except maybe for bobcats, which are a bit bigger than american bobcats. They're between american bobcats and cougars in size, but they're extremely shy.

Here's a picture I took at the "Feldsee" (lake at the Feldberg). It's a relict from the ice age and still contains plants from that time. This is why this lake is protected. No fishing or swimming allowed.

Might be a gag for tourists, but this place is supposed to be sacred to the hopi indians. I'm not sure what that means, but I agree with them, that this place is beautiful.

You jerks just made me waste an hour and a half looking through this thread. I have homework to do, next week is finals for goodness' sake! Because of what you have done, I'm going to punish you all by posting a bunch of my favorite camping pictures.

First, a few from last summer's trip to the Wind River Range in Wyoming...

We found this rabbit in the campsite the first night. Unfortunately, we seem to be rather pathetic hunters without the aid of firearms.

And now for a few from Nebraska National Forest (stop laughing) near Halsey and Valentine National Wildlife Refuge near... Valentine NE. Taken last fall.

Coon tracks in the sand at the refuge.

Did a quick solo camp on the weekend. Didn't grab many pics but here's a couple while I was out in the kayak.

OK, how about a trivia quiz - who can tell me the peak name and official elevation (not what is on the topo maps) for this marker?

Franklin2006130.jpg

I'll give you a clue - It can be seen in these pictures taken near Mineral King in Sequoia NP:

And the bonus question - who can name the high point on the ridgeline in the distance in the last picture?

Mike, hey

Very generous of you dude 'cos there's some pretty cool pix get put up here by all sorts of folk, thanks :-)

I'm in the south of England but I roam. Exmoor, Dartmoor and bits of Wales are in fairly easy range. A few of the recent ones have been from the more mundane Sussex and Hampshire. They're cute but small. Nice for 2/3 days out though.
