The third and final post in my waaaaay too long series of photos from my trip to the Abilene, TX State Park. Scroll back one page to see the other 2 posts (if you care lol).

The deer really weren't too concerned about us, there were a ton of them ready to have their picture made. This one had a baby with it, we drove past them at a distance of about 20 yards and they didn't really seem to care about us.

Finally, we wound up at Lake Abilene. The beast could no longer be contained. Let the jail break commence!

Of course, I did throw the stick, so I suppose I am to blame as well!

I told Nash that if he got in the water, he was riding in the back of my truck on the way home. He thought this might help...

AbileneTripOctober2008216.jpg

It didn't. He got to hang out in the back for a while, but it was his first trip. Despite being tied in, he eventually moved from resting his head on my truck box to climbing up on it while we went down the road. I couldn't let anything happen to him, so we dug up an old blanket under the back seat and let him back in. Oh well! Eventually the wet dog smell will get out of my seats, right? Right? Oh dang.

Overall I had a blast. I would have liked to have had more time, but I was still happy to have the chance to get out and see some different countryside from what I have here at home. On the plus side, I think my brother-in-law and I may try and plan a real camping trip sometime without the wives (neither of them are real gung-ho about roughing it, so we can get way out in the woods without them. My wife is coming along nicely though, she really wants to try some real camping this season. Wish me luck!)

Thanks for having a look and let me know what you think! Sorry for the crappy pics, I took them with a basic point and shoot digital camera.

Nice kit Bushman. I need to get something like that pulled together myself.

Glad you liked the picture, I think after visiting with that big dumb chocolate lab I have my wife talked into a big dog, so hopefully in the future I'll have more pics like that one.

Scored this today for a steal! these pouches are normally $70 - 100 CDN $$ , i got it for $60 cash.

K.M. Saddlery leatherworks, it will hold my fire kit/ tinder tin perfectly:

Awesome foliage you got up there Suicy! I'm ready for our leaves to go through 'the change' down here too.

I'm really starting to like these bluffs. Nice little hiking area. I shoulda held the camera further forward though, it was a much further way down than it looks.

I guess if you've never fallen, you have no fear of heights, right?

I like my Wave on hikes, the saw actually works too, I was surprised to find that out the first time I gave it a shot! It bit deep enough to hang there for this shot after only a few passes.

How's the weather in your neck of the woods? This is what it looks like in Collingwood, Ontario today.

Shore08,

Where in TN are you at? I live in Cleveland and work in Chattanooga. Where are the bluffs at?
