It's about 200 acres of mostly wood, hills and a creek with some farmland.

It's a great place to practice my bushcraft skills and camp and target shoot.

These pics were taken at Petit Jean State Park, just outside of Morrilton, Arkansas. In flat land, this mountain rises up next to the Arkansas River, it looks almost like a giant Mesa. It has so many different things in this small park, it is hard to believe. There is a lake on top of the mountain, the stream that runs off goes into the waterfall I posted earlier. There are thousands of bizarre rock formations, things that don't make sense. The Rockefellers (yes, those Rockefellers) moved there in the fifties and have ranch and foundation (Winrock) on top of the mountain as well, complete with airport. There is a cave with ancient drawings that are still easy to see. There are hundreds of caves and waterfalls. Meet interesting people up there all the time, I am always curious how they even heard about the place. Last time I was there, I helped a very elderly Egyptian couple around, they tried to hike down to the waterfall and couldn't get back up - its pretty rough. I live about 20 miles away, if anybody gets up that way let me know and I will personally guide you around. There are several trails, be hard to do them all in one day. Some of it is steep, you need to be in decent shape, but they are well worth it.

About three years ago I was riding my Harley on a back road in the park. The bike set so low I was having to keep my legs down and kind of walk down the dirt road. I came around a corner and a Bobcat walked out in front in of me, then walked toward me. He walked right up next to me, looked at me, then walked off like it was no big deal.

Petit Jean State Park got its name from and old legend. Arkansas was settled mostly by the French, and they came through the Arkansas River - a major trade route. The legend is that a young girl Petit Jean was so in love with her boyfriend that she stowed away on a ship and prentended to be a boy. She got sick and died aboard, and they carried her to the top of the mountain and buried here at a scenic point overlooking the river and miles of farm land. The grave is marked, but nobody really thinks that is where it is, there are the remains of a stone hotel close to it, they chose the graves spot.

BTW it is pronounced "Petty Jean", most names around here are French names that have been mispronounced for a 150 years.

What SAK is that?

It is a Wenger Ranger "something"... I have one just like that. I bought it in Zermatt during this summers climbing trip to the Alps. It has the very same set of tools than a Vic Rucksak but lacks the toothpick and the tweezers. The Wenger is also a tad bigger, heavier and thicker, but the cutting edge of the blade is about the same (the edge doesn't go all the way to the handle, there is about 1cm or so of unsharpened/unground edge). It also sports a button-operated liner lock instead of the sliding lock of the Vic Rucksack.

Not a bad tool to have arround if you ever felt your big Vics are not big enough. Doesn't get much pocket carry time due to its weight though.

How about some outdoorsy artwork! I painted these a few years ago before I became a knifemaker.:) Both are oil on canvas.

Wow Ray! Those look awesome. I just spent 30 minutes digging around here looking at your Explorer, HWK, and HWK+! You paintings and knives show your talent well. Let me know if you have any free HKW+'s lying around.
