Sorry about the lack of knife pics. There's so little wood around it wasn't necessary to use one except to slice up some pepperoni stick.:o

This is one morning that was so nice I had to take a shot of it. Not bad for my first post in this thread.

Various views of Wanda Lake, Kings Canyon NP. This lake is above treeline, so all you see is water, rock, grass, and flowers. It gets very deep very quickly by the shore, in these pictures where you can see the bottom fading out of view it is 30-40' deep - crystal clear water. There were a lot of frogs there, too. In a normal year this lake ices out around mid-July, and refreezes in November.

Can't think of a better way to join the site then to add some pictures to my favorite thread.

My "secret" spot in the Sam Houston National forest.
The road in. Small high clearance 4x4 is a must. The perfect trail for jeeps.

The only other way in.

And a small fire from earlier tonight that I made to try out my new Bark River Aurora and to have light to read The Last American Man. Both received for Christmas and both much appreciated.

Some wang on that bison hug...I am just saying...:)

When I was in Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota several years ago the cows were in heat and those bull bison were all hot and bothered.

Wild Kingdom indeed!

Welcome Atticus! Looks like a great secret spot.

Thanks. I will get some more shots of it in January when I go to try out my new dutch oven and Bark River Aurora. I promise to take some pictures. Until then here are some pictures from Big Bend for this rainy winter day. Bonus points to anyone who can name the spots in the pictures.
