Today I did some hiking in the "Nationaal Park Dwingelderveld". Here are some pictures.

When I went into the forest, I found a small type of deer, which we call "ree" in Dutch. This type of deer is very common in Europe.

What's the small sheath with the firesteel? Sheath & contents please?

the sheaths are a maxpedition single mag pouch and a specops combat master sheath. as far as whats in them the knife is a Busse Boss HG55. in the pouch i have a fine DMT Diafold along with a 6in section of a leather belt with green compound on one side and black on the other. that keeps my knife in razor sharp status all the time. in the maxpedition sheath i have a leatherman supertool that i have had for 10 years that the tip broke off of so then i grindes it back down on a grinding wheel (i think it might be time for a new one) and on the outside of the sheath is a normal light my fire army model fire steel.

hope this helps

This is my gear for dayhiking. I don't like backpacks for short hikes, the little hipbag contains everything I need.

These are the contents, I just add a few snacks and sometimes a flashlight and I'm good to go.

When I followed a little river in Luxemburg I stumbled upon this gem.

You want to talk survival? Try putting in an 700 mile day on this thing then setting up camp.

Wow. That is nuts. Can't imagine putting in that many miles to then have to set up camp too. I think I'd just put a hat on my head and sleep in the dirt lol.

Body got to old and tired to stay bent up all day and still camp...so got a bigger bike. Never getting rid of the Ducati though.

lambertiana, your photos always blow me away. You hike in the most amazing places. Thanks for sharing!

Here are a few shots from yesterday's hike along the Bruce Trail. These photos show the Loree Forest sections of the trail.

As part of the Niagara Escarpment, this section of the Bruce Trail features all sorts of rock formations, including 'flowerpots'. Here is a small formation by the side of the trail:
