CK - hang on to the fireman for now. PM or email me your address and I'll do like I did for Kelly and get you one directly off Amazon.

Very sorry to hear about your dad. I had read it before but didn't realize you had so little time with him after the diagnosis. Also didn't realize you were my age, I'm 28 and couldn't imagine losing my dad right now. I'm glad you were able to be there with him at the end.

Sir thank you so much and I will graciously accept your offer but please read the "final thought" I edited into my post (#620). If you won't take and use it I'd like to find someone here who will, I believe it would actually be more honorable of a thing for his old Vic to go out to someone in need, someone who will use it as intended, than if it sits in a box here with me. I have other knives of his that will sit around unused, I'd rather tell someone of my dad and the great man he was and see them carry on using a knife in his name for many years to come than to see it also "die" I the bottom of a box of other knives. I have other knives of his proudly displayed and see them every day but I really don't have near the attachment to this one.

Plus the rat will mean more to me if I use the fireman of dads to acquire it than if someone [you] just gives me one, even tho your giving it in his memory.

This made me teary eyed (not complaining, I'm more than happy to tell of my father).

I understand. I don't think I would use the Vic so if someone comes forward wanting to use it in his memory that would be great.

I was looking at a Rat-1 several months back, online, but i ended up getting a cryo... I think i should of got the rat-1 now LMAO everyone seems to love it.

Ok guys since fetzer85 has hooked me up I'm going to be posting the Vic fireman up tomorrow (I'm going to sleep now and want to be able to monitor it). Please don't call dibs just yet, wait for me to actually post it, and please please more than anything use it, that's all I ask, don't just take it if your gonna leave it sit in a drawer, I can do that, but if you're truly going to use it then [when I post it tomorrow] absolutely take it and when you do use it just know my dad (you can call him Goz) will be helping you with your work.

If you want to read more of its story you can see post #620.

CK, I feel your pain brother. My Dad, healthy as could be, passed in his sleep when I was 21. Talk about send things into a tailspin. Thanks for sharing the story. Lots more of us who lost our Dads early out there appreciate your generosity. I have my own son now. 6 this last June. He never knew his Grandpa Mike ( here on Earth, but before for sure, not to get too religious), but he can't seem to ask enough about him these days. Damn, I wish they could have spent time together here. They would be best buds.

The person who gets that Vic from CK better give it the respect it deserves.

I lost my father to cancer when I was six. My son is 8 now so he's had two more years with his dad than I ever had. My prayers are with those that have lost their father or any loved one.

Hey buddy, shoot me a PM with your shipping address and I will get a bead out to you this week. Its funny, my father in law is my boss, and he walked by as I was turning a few of them on the manual lathe the other day. He asked me what I was selling them for and I told him I was just giving them away. He told me that I was smart to keep them free because when you start making things for money, a little of the fun of it leaves. I whole heartedly agree with him. Its much more rewarding for me to just give them away. Its something that I enjoy and I like to think that some of my handywork is riding shotgun on some pretty sweet steel out there.

Here is one of the beads on one of my blades:

I definitely will, think I am going to dress it up as well with a lanyard and bead.

NCCNC, if you end up making some more beads is it ok if i request one? If not no worries, just like the idea of adding a hand made bead to this Rat from someone participating in this thread.

Alright I've got a few lanyards up for grabs as well as some beads. I'm not much of a lanyard guy so I thought I'd offer these up. I'd like to keep them separate to give everyone a chance.

Ok the red and black lanyard and both large loose beads are spoken for. I have the two lanyards with the beads already attached up for grabs and the loan white and black lanyard.

I would like the second lanyard from the left (black and grey or green) with the small bead on it. If that is cool I can PM you my shipping info. It will look great on my benchmade afo II.

Thanks,
Damian

Ok looks like all that's left is the white and black lanyard and the little black skull bead.

PM sent, thanks NCCNC!

SpringAssisted, you have dibs on the manix if I can indeed get a fixed blade.

What kind of fixed blade, specifically? Any kind at all, or a more "tactical" fixed blade? I have a Western Co. Model 66, made with some kind of steel that I'll part with if it will fit your needs.

And.. if bb6tuner doesn't want it, consider it my offering to the whole thread.

Ok, guys. I already sent Kelly my Kershaw Clash, but was able to find something else in my drawer. This is my used Kershaw Shuffle. It's on the small side, but feels great in hand, and has a very useful blade shape. Still pretty sharp, as I've only carried it a handful of times, but of course it could use a good sharpening to get it back to hair-popping! This was the first of the 2013 budget models that I was able to find at my local wally world, so it has some sentimental value to me. It's a solid knife, but you really have to snap it open to get the best lock engagement. First "I'll take it" gets it
