The very cool part of this offering is that this knife was given and shipped to me by Ethan Becker himself!! I've kept it near and dear because Ethan is a great person, but it's time for someone else to own it.

Forgive this convoluted post, but if you don’t want to follow along it ends with a Becker 17 offer, but not from me.

A few pages back I mentioned I wanted to offer an Emerson, with a request: whoever got the Emerson should be someone who hasn't owned one, who would take it out, use it, snap some pics of it in action, and post their review back in the thread. Yes, I know I can do all of that myself and post elsewhere in the forums, but thought it would be more fun to do it here. NYOutdoors PM’d me and asked to do the review as he has never owned an Emerson, and offered to give several other knives to the thread in exchange. This is a generous offer, so I decided to give the Emerson to him, and he would then offer a knife to everyone.

OK so if you follow all of that the offer is forthcoming from NYOutdoors, it is a BK 17 (old style, stamped, not laser etched), which should go to someone new to Beckers (or at least the 17), who is willing to take it out and review it, and then post some pics back in the thread. If you follow my thinking here it was we give 2 knives away, and get two reviews, and get 2 happy people instead of just one. Win, Win, Win in my opinion.

Let me know if anyone thinks this is out of line, I think we are following the spirit of the thread. I will not try for the BK 17 as this isn't a trade, there is another place for that. Below are pics of NYOutdoors new Emerson A100 (awful pics i know):

I like this idea if the of doing reviews on knives that are given away to somebody. The review and pics do not have to be extensive however we all love pictures. It would be cool if most of us started to do this. There would be a lot of reviews and pics and we would be able to see the lovely knives in action and here about their performance. I am would love to do a review of a fixed blade preferably a larger one of at least 8 inches long because I have some plans of batoning and cutting some firewood.

Ok, i was afraid i wasn't being clear, please let me try again: i am giving the Emerson to NYOutdoors, he will do a review and keep the knife, AND he will offer the Becker to anyone who wants it. Is everyone OK with this? I fear i made an error by not offering it to everyone, but liked the idea of 2 knives going to the thread. Thoughts?

I am interested in the BK17 if it is not spoken for, I am new to Beckers and only own a few fixed blades, but I have plenty of firewood that can be cut up or split. The BK17 is a little small for some of those tasks, but would still be a fun review.

How about a link to a review thread? More pictures without cluttering this thread and we can enjoy seeing the knives in use.

What I'm noticing is some really awesome things being posted and people snatching them up in literally a minute or less. In order to give more people a chance here's what I'm going to do.

At 10:00pm EST I'll be posting an electric knife sharpening tool. Along with it will be a question. I'll give everyone interested an hour to email me their answers. Then at 11:00pm EST I'll post the answer and let you know who 'won' the item.

That sounds pretty interesting. We could do with some rules. Seems like some people are snatching up a bunch of stuff or asking for things without contributing to the thread. It is a "pay it forward thread", not a "gimme stuff for free thread".
