I mentioned this before. When we did this on another forum we kept track of what we gave and what we took buy a number. For example I've taken 3 given 6 so I'd be plus 3. Maybe someone has given 3 taken 4 would be minus one and would have to give again in order to take. Make sense?

I don't smoke my pipe any more. I think that if you do enjoy a pipe, these are pretty nice. I have a paronelli pipe from London that is pretty nice. All can be cleaned out easily to be re-used. Cant get links working to photos, but you should be able to past the url's into browser to view. Email me if you would like them. If anything, they would make a nice display in a man cave, lol.

I smoke a pipe, although I have to admit I've never had an "estate" pipe. Still, they look interesting. If it's the whole bunch, I'd feel funny about taking them all. Any more individual shots?
 
The +1 and - 1 thing would be tough with how many people this thread has attracted. Also I don't think everyone would agree that a person is 'even' if they gave away a $20 knife an accepted a $150 one. It would get pretty hairy. I suppose we leave any reasonable stipulations up to the givers.

Makes sense, but this thread was started under the premise that people would govern themselves. This precedence may start complicating things. Like what fetzer said for example:

I think that our goal should be to always stay in the positive. I think I gave 5 and I have received 2 (at least one will be part of a pass around though). So +3.
 
Raindog, email me your info . If I get no more takers, I will send them all to you..no problem. If anyone else shows interest, I will give you first dibs(and take more photos) But I would say the paronelli is the nicest.
 
Right, the +1 and -1 system is a good one, but you know whether you're doing the right thing or not. Rules would beget trackers would beget disputations and then the whole spirit of giving is replaced by selfishness. Let each govern himself according to the original poster's stated principles.

Dude you've contributed a good amount, how about this, I will GIVE you the spyderco to KEEP, use it any way you wish, loose it if you so please lol but if you love it and end up acquiring another spyderco in the future GIVE it back to me then.

I've given away several things in this thread and the two that make me happiest are the knife of my fathers and the highly moddified cryo that was one of the first things I gave away.
 
Everyone here has been great so far, and have policed themselves adequately (i think, i haven't tracked anything). Lets try to keep it that way, it would be a shame for something as fun and well meaning as this to get closed down because anyone abused the good nature and altruism of those involved to date. Please understand I am not accusing ANYONE of anything, this has been my best forum experience by far. I think the thread has grown into something good and unique, and has brought many people together. People have given without any expectation of receiving; if you pick something up GREAT, but the essence of the thread has been to give.

Am i crazy, does anyone else feel the same?
 
If you think the person taking your item is taking too much, you are free to say "Hey <so and so>, I saw that you were the first to respond to my item. I have reserved this item for you, but I'd like to see you participate in the thread more before I send this to you" or something similar. In the end, that's what it's about: having fun by participating.

But we do all agree that everyone should pay something forward, right? I'd rather see someone pass on a $20 knife and get one that's $150, than to see people begging shamelessly. Reminds me of my MMORPG days. XD

Exactly. I was just laid off, and I was feeling bummed out until I started sending things to people in this thread, and yes receiving some as well. It has really instilled some positivity in me, but I definitely feel like everyone should "throw in". It feels pretty good.

Woot, I got the post! Lol.
