Let's KISS... ;)

Dunno, I put up some stuff (with personal significance, as per original post), some of it even got taken, I didn't even mind paying shipping it overseas (despite being recently laid off, and having trouble collecting few months' wages my ex employer owes me). And, believe it or not, even if I come out empty handed- I wouldn't feel at all at loss, I had fun and enjoyed participating...

Great idea, and great thread- just keep having fun folks. :D

Let me give my opinion on all the rules talk, this was a great thread, reading threw t made me happy, however the last 2 pages are now filled with "rules" and "+1,-1". It seems to be running fine, why make a big dead out of nothing.

Yes there are a few people asking for specific stuff and not giving, or otherwise contributing in any way, and that's not really cool, but if you are giving I see no reason why, if you truely need and will use something, you shouldn't ask for it.

That's all I have to say about that, you won't read another post from me about "rules". I have a 9 & 6 year old I have to set rules for, I'd hope us all here are above that level.

Right, the +1 and -1 system is a good one, but you know whether you're doing the right thing or not. Rules would beget trackers would beget disputations and then the whole spirit of giving is replaced by selfishness. Let each govern himself according to the original poster's stated principles.

Man that was well said!!

I think the way its going is good, the people who just take and never give mught not have anything to give, and honestly i thought this was in the purpose of giving to others, not keeping score, if we keep score then we basically are trading our items for others.. NOT paying stuff forward... My opinion only of course.

I have been given 4 and I have given out 3... there is a couple more items i offered that have not been claimed as well... but again the score thing makes me feel as if we are doing something for something, not the goodness of our heart and it will take away from the spirit of this thread. I honestly feel good giving something to another without wanting something in return, I thought that was the idea and i want it to continue this way personally.

I agree. Everything is fine as is.

And I just wanna say I have asked for 2 specific things but I have contributed, I was just in the first few pages. Just wanna put that out there lol

Congrats Remy you hit post # 1,000! (and you weren't even trying :p)
Thanks, haha.

Mentioning the age thing, I think some of the younger guys around here may not even have decent knives yet, and it would be nice to pass some along to them if they speak up saying as much. Just a thought.

Exactly. I was just laid off, and I was feeling bummed out until I started sending things to people in this thread, and yes receiving some as well. It has really instilled some positivity in me, but I definitely feel like everyone should "throw in". It feels pretty good.

Woot, I got the post! Lol.

Hey Remy,
Shoot me your address, I'm gonna send you something nice. For the 1000th post. And just because.
Dave

At very MOST, I'd say it would be reasonable to say you need to give something or have something offered before you can make a request for specific items....but I still prefer the original process.

Naah, after additional thought. That will still infringe on the spirit of the thread. I believe a bit of self monitoring as needed will suffice.

Folks, let me just clarify one thing please; when I described my stipulations on my item it WAS NOT because I thought things were getting 'hogged up' by any certain people. In fact, I don't even need anything so I'm just trying to offer things as I can.

This is a FUN thread, and a little rules chat won't ruin it. I only want to give more people a chance. IMO it would be much more fun to know I have a chance at getting something I want vs. reading this thread and going DARN it! I missed it by 1 minute! Hopefully you understand my reasoning.

OK, back to the good stuff! :)

As most of my current sent items arrive at their destinations in the next few days , I will be putting up a becker bk-11 With kryptoglow scales. Also, I will be turning some more lanyard beads out of brass and aluminium. If these are things you could use, just keep an eye out.

But we do all agree that everyone should pay something forward, right? I'd rather see someone pass on a $20 knife and get one that's $150, than to see people begging shamelessly. Reminds me of my MMORPG days. XD

I think this is the biggest point, regardless of cost of items if you take you should be paying forward also.

If we don't want to do the whole +1 thing it's fine by me it was just a suggestion. Sometimes it helps remind you that you need to give .

Hey I am new to this forum and have really enjoyed this thread. And I appreciate the opportunity to participate in this. Thanks all.
