The one knife you will never sell

I got this Military from a good friend on this forum and I will never get rid of it. Titanium deep pocket clip and titanium stand offs. It's the PERFECT knife!

I was thinking how cool, I wonder who made it!
I think many of us would buy that!!
Not that I think you should ever sell it... That's a pass on to someone important knife...!

Thank you guys. This means a lot to me.
Frank.

Here's another one I'd never sell - a Buck 102 that my dad gave me when I was 10 years old (circa 1979-80) - my first fixed blade:

I actually have two that I'd never sell. A Manix 2 DKC that my kids picked out for Father's Day last year and a Cold Steel Lucky that my girlfriend bought me for my birthday. She looked in my shopping cart on BladeHQ.

Never sell? History shows that I have never sold a knife; hence ALL of them (for now). They are more likely to go into a dumpster than me selling them. I have given a few away, but that is about it.

I don't sell them either: I thought valuable knives offered at one third of their value would sell quickly: I found out that either I have peculiar taste in knives (big 1980s style fixed blades and big Randalls) or they are simply something that requires too much patience to sell.

I don't bother selling anything anymore.

It seems selling is a big activity with high end folders...

^^^^ I hear both of you guys (rimfire and Gaston). But some models always sell, and for close for what you paid for them - they're almost like commodities. I've had tremendous luck selling Sebenzas (and other high-end folders), Izulas (and almost anything by RAT/ESEE), Delicas and Enduras (and several other Spydies), and some Benchmade models. I tend to buy duplicates, so when it's time to fund another blade(s), I have stuff I can sell to keep the addiction going...

Prices on Randalls always seem high on fleabay. I assume folks are selling them through that venue. Probably reaches a broader market than here on BF.

Well I think I have one. Its a Microtech UT. Or in this case a "Frankentech". This knife started as a UT6 from 2002. This knife had an aluminum internal carrier for the spring mech but it was destroyed by a previous owner. I had a 2001 that had a handle that was unusable so I blended the best of both knives to make what is now my favorite microtech I have ever owned. Its been used and has some battle scars. But for some reason I just love it and love using it because I don't have to baby it. It probably helps that the original UT's are some of my favorite knives ever. But this one is just special to me. At this point I cant see myself ever selling this one.

Tough call.. because every time I have said that about a knife I have later sold it as better knives (performance) have become available.

That said, the two folders I have had customized are likely keepers as they were made to my taste not another's:

Try selling the big Model 12 or a Clinton dagger: It takes patience, even on Ebay, unless you take the risk of an auction with no real minimum... Selling a Model 14, 18 or 1 is probably much easier.

I wouldn't sell most of my knifes, especially the one that I have on me from my Father. Chicago Cutlery p19.

My 21 year old daughter was lying in a nursing home in late 2002, after suffering massive traumatic brain injury in a hit and run. She was beginning to stir and become vaguely aware again of her surroundings, showing signs of coming out of the vegetative state that the doctors had assured us she would never come out of.

I was just getting into Busse knives as a collector, and had just received the new AD model from the custom shop, a wonderful little knife with satin blade and snakeskin micarta handle.
I took it with me to the nursing home, held it in front of her eyes, and made her a promise that I was putting it away for her to use on our future deer hunts. This elicited a weak attempt at a smile. (She had always been deeply into my guns and knives.)

I posted this account on the Busse forum. About a week later I received and unexpected package from Busse combat containing another knife of the same model and configuration. There was a note from Jennifer and Jerry Busse saying that they wanted to replace my knife that I had given to Kim. This Custom Shop Active Duty became my most-used Busse knife and I will never, ever sell it.

By the way, that hunting trip happened in about four years from the date of the promise, when she had progressed to the point she could climb with my assistance into a fairly low-mounted shooting house, and could stay in a saucer-sized circle at 50 yards with her .243 . We agreed that anything within 50 yards was hers and outside 50 yards was mine. No deer showed that day, but it was the highlight of my lifetime of hunting.

Fixed it for you Echoil. Even though I know the ellipsis marks denoted the whole story in summation. I felt that the quoted parts should be stated together and were worthy of garnering their own attention.
No slight was meant.

I had posted about my Large 21 earlier and I forgot that there was another that I will not sell.

The two that I will not part with are my:

Large 21 that was made in my daughters birthday and the small fixed blade that the Misses had made for me for my first Father's Day.

It is my dedicated "Dinner Out and Occassions" knife. It was made by Charles Roddenberry (Nighthaxan, of Limecutter fame) and made of his Oh Mai! mix.
