The only reason I RMAed a knife was to get an unsharpened blade

I've never heard of a knife company sending out an unsharpened blade. In fact, I know you're not the first person to ask Benchmade for an unsharpened blade, and they've denied all those requests in the past. I'm pretty sure you could find a post from a Benchmade representative in this forum stating that.

I'm not sure what's being asked. Were you asking for an unsharpened blade? Why not just reprofile it to the edge angle that you want and go from there?

There is a specific question that is required to fill out the RMA that asks if you want the knife sharpened or not.

The email confirmation I have from them includes details: Sharpen knife? No.

There is no question here. I am complaining.

What exactly did you expect them to send you? Knife blade w/ bevels and no edge? Blade blank? they will always send one that has an edge which means it is technically sharpened. That option on the form is weather you want them to freshly sharpen the edge for you before sending it out. What was the reason to request an "unsharpened" knife?

I don't want to get banned again... Do you not understand that is a required question to answer when submitting an RMA? It's not a special request.

It’s a warranty form. They are asking if you want the knife you are sending in, to be sharpened by them. Fairly thoughtful in my opinion considering how many of us knife nuts don’t like factory edges. I see no issues here.

90% of the posts here are going to be idiotic. The challenge for me is to insult them without getting banned.

Thanks, you're part of the intelligent and skilled ~ 10% : )

I can't tell if the issue is that you didn't want them to sharpen your knife (which is what the checkbox on the form about sharpening sounds like), or that you returned a knife hoping it would come back with an unground blade (no edge bevel at all).

What was the issue that prompted the return?

The sharpening process does not include the primary bevel.

There were a few issues with the knife that are irrelevent. I would have just bought a new one but the only way to get an unsharpened blade is to do an RMA.

So Benchmade didn't follow your request not to sharpen the knife? Are you trying to inform people that they may get a sharpened knife back? Are you trying to complain about their customer service? Not sure what the point of the post is. I know that it would have taken me less time to reprofile the knife than the amount of time you spent complaining.

Definitive first world problems.

#1 Your first question shouldn't a question because you already have that information
#2 Sure
#3 Yes

You aren't getting your point across very well.

The question on the RMA asks if you would like them to sharpen your knife for you while they have it. Are you saying you checked that box, but they sharpened your knife anyway? Because that has happened to me, and it was not a very good sharpening job. If you have a copy of your original RMA, and contact them, they will replace your blade if they botched the sharpening when you asked them not to.
