The only reason I RMAed a knife was to get an unsharpened blade

For people that aren’t grasping it: The OP
thinks he can sharpen his knives better than the factory so he wants manufacturers to send him an unsharpened knife.

One has to wonder at what point you don’t just make the entire knife yourself if you can’t trust the maker to put the initial edge on.

Benchmade doesn't sell unsharpened blades. I would highly doubt that the return center has access to unsharpened blades or that they have the ability/authorization to remove an edge.

I get it, it's a lot to read now. You missed the part where we all confirmed an unsharpened blade from BM is a real thing.

And where did we confirm that? Because that's not what the question on the RMA is asking. It is asking if you would like them to re-sharpen the blade that is currently on the knife you sent to them. If you check "NO" they simply won't touch it, and will send it back to you in the same condition you sent it to them.

I think that is the core concept you are not able to grasp.

This is how I understand to process too. That’s why I thought op was kidding

Not from this site, it just happens a lot.

I see it is difficult for some to deduce that the blade was replaced.

Benchmade does replacement blades, and the OP wants an unsharpened blade as part of the return. Just an FYI.
The problem is the OP hasn't clearly defined what he considers an unsharpened blade because to my knowledge and the responses from everyone I have seen so far they will not send out a knife that hasn't had an initial edge put on it. The OP sounds like he doesn't even want the initial edge which you simply will not get. If they by mistake did sharpen an RMA when the option to sharpen was selected as "No" then I completely understand the complaint but such outrage that seems to be coming from OP over the mistake and no apparent attempt to let BM know of their mistake does not help make the OP seem like a sensible and reasonable person which adds to the reasons I and others are wondering exactly what an unsharpened blade is to the OP. I expect a person with unreasonable behavior to also make unreasonable requests.

Very good point which I will say once he revealed that he had been banned I know that this was no more than a post to try and make BM look bad which I wouldn't take issue with, as I am not fond of them, if this were a reasonable complaint presented in a reasonable way.

I'm surprised to hear that.

Again, Benchmade doesn't sell unsharpened blades, so any blade from the factory would have the factory edge on it. It seems unreasonable to ask for them to take the brand new blade and unsharpen it.

I have been assuming that but the question is how do you define "unsharpened" because every blade the put on will have an initial edge so a blade swap/replacement will be sharpened making that tick box on the RMA moot because a new blade will be sharpened like any blade bought from a store. It won't be sold without an initial edge nor should we expect them to blunt an edge for you. So I repeat my question what exactly did you expect them to provide you in this RMA?

Yes, I’m aware. I was informing you as you seemed to not understand the OP’s intent.

Gee, I wonder why... It must be your sparkling personality...

Then that question on the RMA doesn't apply to you. No knife company sends out unsharpened blades.
You are my favorite.

I had to laugh on this one, thanks.... Who is the question for? Do you want an unsharpened blade? Who answers that question BM puts on the form I need to fill out?

Benchmade sends out unsharpened blades!!!!!!!

I know I'm being an ***hole because I'm angry with BM (and it happens naturally).

What is your reason for being so dense? No need to answer that, but please do if you can find one.

THE SHARPENING PROCESS DOES NOT INCLUDE FORMING THE PRIMARY BEVEL!!!!!!!

I wanted an unsharpened blade!

You guys are so very amusing, thank you.
