The only reason I RMAed a knife was to get an unsharpened blade

The question is for people for whom blade is not being replaced as the question if properly stated is "Do you want us to sharpen the blade you sent in?"

You are my favorite.

I had to laugh on this one, thanks.... Who is the question for? Do you want an unsharpened blade? Who answers that question BM puts on the form I need to fill out?

Benchmade sends out unsharpened blades!!!!!!!

I know I'm being an ***hole because I'm angry with BM (and it happens naturally).

What is your reason for being so dense? No need to answer that, but please do if you can find one.
Sorry, but i think you’re confused. Benchmade is asking you if you want your already sharpened blade sharpened when you sent the knife in for service. They aren‘t literally offering you a blade that has never been sharpened.

What form are you looking at? The Benchmade Warranty form says "Do Not Sharpen (check here) □".

It doesn't ask if you want an unsharpened/unfinished blade. You can confirm with Benchmade, but it most likely doesn't apply to a Blade Replacement.

THE SHARPENING PROCESS DOES NOT INCLUDE FORMING THE PRIMARY BEVEL!!!!!!!

I wanted an unsharpened blade!

You guys are so very amusing, thank you.
Well it is nice to know that each side of this is being amused by the other.

FYI: They don't send out blades w/o a primary bevel

I sympathize with the OP. I RMA'd a knife and specifically requested no blade, scales, liners, hardware, clip or sheath and they sent me one with all that. I even enclosed a picture of exactly what I wanted and they STILL messed it up!

The fatal flaw in your logic is that you think Benchmade sends out unsharpened blades. They do not. Once you understand this, you will realize that the question about sharpening does not apply to blade replacements.

Since multiple people have told you this already, and you haven't grasped the point, I don't think you will ever grasp it. Enjoy being angry and shouting at the walls. We tried to help.

If they did send out unsharpened blades, can you imagine how many would be sent in needing cleaned up or replaced? I imagine there’d be a lotta doorknobs running amuck with grinders in their garage.

Reading the form, at least i assume it is the form the OP is talking about, the "Do Not Sharpen" place to check most likely has to do with sending the knife in for warranty work that does not have to do with the edge (springs, scales, etc). Like if I paid for some high dollar custom serrations to be cut in aftermarket or if I had the blade etched/engraved and didn't want to run the risk of the dude swapping out the springs accidentally buffing off the design or buggering the serrations.

I do notice that there is a little line there called "notes". My suggestion would be that if what I am wanting is uncommon (like ordering a knife that won't cut), I would make use of the notes section or even attach a sheet of paper detailing what I am asking for. My guess is that a sizeable number of the folks working there are married. Therefore, they are already charged with reading the mind of another person as it is. This should be taken into account before you just assume they understand that you are reading into the option in question in a completely different way than it was meant.

N nevertakeadayoff its an easy fix. Take your knife to a grinding wheel and grind it down perpendicular to the wheel until the edge is completely flat like the spine of the blade, and then you can proceed to work your magic.

I guess I don’t follow why you don’t want the Benchmade edge put on. Their engineers design their blades with the geometry of their factory grinds and edge in mind.. so what could you possibly be doing to the knife angle that causes you to become so angry at seeing benchmades edge on the knife? It’s tried and true, and if you want to reprofile have at it. Why the outrage?

Wow, you're just not able to follow along here, are you?

Good luck.

See above.

Haha, that was funny : )

Most of the people here are just trying to win their argument and are too stubborn to change their stance when new information is presented.

I called BM a few months ago and asked about getting an unsharpened blade on my custom order.

"The only way you can get an unsharpened blade is during a warranty". (paraphrased)

I knew I should have put that in the notes... I figured since the question to sharpen or not was REQUIRED to process the form that it wasn't necessary to put it in the notes.

Can we just Ban this idiot again? He has nothing to offer and is quite literally too stupid to understand how to use the interwebs. This one wins the BF Darwin Award.
