The Oregon Knife Show, 2023!!!

A good knife show? No, a great knife show!!!
While I did find some superb knives at the Eugene show, the best part was certainly reuniting with old friends like Charlie, and meeting new ones as well.
Although we had a video chat with Rhidian for a podcast show, meeting him and his dad in person and having some meals with them was an absolute pleasure.
It was also a wonderful to meet a few forum members for the first time like Lloyd, Dylan (and his dad), and Michael. Sorry that Dave couldn't make it this year, and I hope he recovers soon.
With 260 tables, there were treasures to be found by everyone who came to the show, and I was thrilled to see some finds from friends.
Beyond the sales tables were display tables that ran around the perimeter of the show, here are just a few examples of some very fine displays.

Wonderful pictures, Neal!! Thanks for posting them!!!
I was pretty much chained to my table, so didn't get to see half of the displays!!

Joan Mae was present (2 tables) for GEC, with Bill's and her daughter, Becky, and Bill took us all (a select crowd!!) ;) out to dinner, courtesy GEC's tab!!! Thanks Bill!!

Many people had GEC's for sale at the show including me!! I found a couple of real nice 2007's, which are on their way here; and going to Oregon also got me several contemporary ones such as these Camel bone EJs!!!

Ha Ha!!!
Guilty as charged!!! 🤣

But is this the pot calling the kettle black???!! 😲
:D

Touché.

I am unapologetic about my affection for sharp and shiny things, though sometimes I do wonder if it is a bit weird. I asked my wife her thoughts and she assured me that there is nothing weird about it. I love that woman.

She gave me the go-ahead to make plans for a future Oregon Knife Show. We'll take the train and make a weekend getaway out of it. I'll go to the OKCA show while she'll visit with her nephew who starts at UO this fall.

It'll have to wait until 2025 though. 😭 April 13, 2024 is her mother's 80th birthday. As much as I am raring to go, some things (not many mind you ;)) are more important than knives.

I hope to be able to be there too kamagong! hope if my plans go ok, it will be before '25 - but it also could be that! It would be great to see you there along with so many others, I wouldn't want to work out the time it would take for me to get there 🤣
Looking forward to that Duncan it will be a long time coming.

Sounds like a good time, Charlie!

I’m glad to hear there were some GECs at the Oregon show. I’ve scoured the tables at the Badger show the last two years for GEC knives, with no luck. I did at least see a handful last year, but they were all recent releases, and nothing exciting. This year I didn’t see a single one. I know the Badger club had a couple club knives done by GEC, maybe 10 years ago, and there are usually a couple folks there who have several of the previous years’ club knives for sale, but never the GEC ones.

You picked up a couple good looking #87’s there!

Oh yes It would be just awesome to meet everyone again- and of course friends who I havent got to shake their hand yet- at times the best part of the trip!

Very nice, it would have been interesting to see what the boxed Knife sets cost! Love that Stag Safety folder ( If I am correct ? 😵‍💫),.

Oh man - I could spend a full month there- It makes me think of when Sue and I travel and if we go to a big Museum, I will spend hours taking in as much as I can - especially if we come to any Military, Amour, Weaponry, Cutlery, I turn around and poor Sue is bored as hang and just wants to keep moving-so I regretfully leave my viewing behind- Sue is a real Sweetheart and would stay there for me- but I cant do that to her, some things we have to do separately, in saying this- Sue LOVED the day with our Jack Black and his amazing day he created for us around Sheffield.

Sounds like everyone had a good show! I know there was great company and food. I decided to stay close to home at the local hospital and have an abcess on my lower intestine worked on. Not exactly the right kind of fun but very different than I've experienced before. Quite painful actually!

Dave
I was sad to miss you at the show, but I certainly understand why you stayed home. I hope recovery is smooth and quick.

Adrian, Charlie and Rhidian during a rare slow moment. Charlie had a great show and was busy every day from start to finish. Hard to keep up with him🤔 and he drove 8 hours coming and going! I am winded just thinking about it.

Great pictures, thanks for sharing them! Looks like a good time was had by all.

Looks like it was a great show from all the pics I've seen! I'm halfway across the country so attending wasn't in the cards, which is a shame because I would have scooped up that wonderful half congress from Rhidian in a heartbeat! 😍
