Ha! That brings back memories. I had a used/antique furniture store for years and it always cracked me up when a customer balked at my selling price by saying that’s outrageous because I know you paid a lot less for it.Knives are the only product I can think of where people give you grief over how much you pay for them, how much you sell them for, how much you offer or do not offer,
Nice seeing you and Abby again, Pops!!!Can't wait to see you tomorrow Charlie! I have been very busy the last few weeks, and haven't had a chance to get on the forum, but I'll definitely be at the show tomorrow. Been waiting for three years to get back to the OKCA Show!
Wish you had made it too, Mike!! People asked me several questions that only you could answer!!! Woulda been yet more enjoyable with you there!!!I wish I could have made it this yearI hope some of you will post some pictures of displays etc??

I wondered who won my BlackJack!!I didn’t take pics at the show but I picked up this GEC86 and a large Case Stockman at the show. I also won a silent auction for a second 86!View attachment 2155029
If you are selling knives, then SELL them!! Adjust the price to the customer if you can!!i go to the local show and many people with tables have the same price on knives for many shows. They think they know what it’s worth, but not really. The last ebay price is not a gun show price.
Most guys leave the game, but never clean house by dropping show prices. They sell lock, stock and barrell to another dealer when they could have made a lot more by just dropping their price and selling it themselves. Some knife dealers are stubborn to the extent of “cutting off their nose to spite their face.
I'm notorious for forgetting my camera in the moment, also! Luckily I got to be a fly on the wall to see Rhidian's near-sweep of the awards!! Never happened before, in Oregon!!Being so busy I too didn’t take many photos. I always forget but here are a few
Congratulations!! Hope you will be at the show again next year as I am planning to be there.Being my first show I didn’t know what to expect and how things would go with having a table but the whole experience was fantastic and couldn’t have been better for me!
We were piped in Saturday morning which was amazing ! It was a pleasure hanging out with Charlie, Lloyd, Neil, Myron, my dad and everyone else. Everyone at the show was in great spirits and so kind. The staff and organizers do such a good job !
I entered some knives for judging and could not believe that I was awarded best New Maker for my Congress, best miniature for my mini Zulu Spear, best folder for my Lockback Whittler which also won Best of Show! I’m blown away!
Being so busy I too didn’t take many photos. I always forget but here are a few
This is a shadow box Charlie put together of some of my knives in his collection
Thank you Charlie! I still can't believe itI'm notorious for forgetting my camera in the moment, also! Luckily I got to be a fly on the wall to see Rhidian's near-sweep of the awards!! Never happened before, in Oregon!!
Congratulations, Rhidian!!!
I'll post my Rhidian knife tomorrow!!
(Just got home!!))
Thanks Duncan! That is a long trip for a knife show! Would be great to meet you too.Lets hope the price argument stays back there and we concentrate on why Charlie put up the thread and for the excitement, the people who get to meet and greet, and all the eye Candy and buy Candy
Rhidian, hope to get to meet you in the future, for me to travel over to the USA and then travel within etc, is a good amount of money then I have to buy knives on top of that! so I am hoping I can get there next year!
Well done on the clean sweep!! Man!!!!Very cool, and very exciting for you so early in your Knife Making career.
Charlie I see the original Youngs Sheeps Foot Castration Knife there! With Rhidian re-pinning it it will last just about forever now! Great to see! Oh the changes and traveling That Knife has done- incredible journey and story of travel and influence.
Thank you!!! Looking forward to it!Congratulations!! Hope you will be at the show again next year as I am planning to be there.
Thanks for posting the pictures!
Those are great looking blades! I like both the big belly on the bowie style clip and that upsweep on the second blade. Plus the match pull triangle pattern fits so well with the theme...Someone selling a small collection brought this to my table at Oregon! I could not refuse!!!
You don't often see "sets" of collector knives these days, but it's hard to pass up curved Barlows!!! Interesting social commentary also!!!![]()
Hope it worked out okay for you and you got it sorted.. I decided to stay close to home at the local hospital and have an abcess on my lower intestine worked on.
Thank YouHope it worked out okay for you and you got it sorted.
Hope everything heals OK, Dave!!!Not exactly the right kind of fun but very different than I've experienced before. Quite painful actually!
Sounds like everyone had a good show! I know there was great company and food. I decided to stay close to home at the local hospital and have an abcess on my lower intestine worked on. Not exactly the right kind of fun but very different than I've experienced before. Quite painful actually!
