The Oregon Knife Show for 2016!

Thanks Jack! I am off in the morning to Portland and will meetup with the boys in Eugene tomorrow afternoon or evening. I am bringing my digital camera this year so I will try to get some decent photos to post on this thread of the show and BF personalities if they permit me to post their pictures here. I will try to get my ugly mug:confused:in photo or two also if possible for those interested. Mainly I will try to get some nice pictures of our BF brethren in action at the show and possibly other interesting pictures of some knife demonstrations and interesting knife display's which the OKCA show is famous for. Anyway, got to get some sleep as I am out of Las Vegas around 8:00 am and then it is about a two hour or better car drive from Portland to Eugene. It is funny I leave Vegas and they got three storms incoming but it is fairly warm around 80 degrees in Portland/Eugene and sunny or partly sunny at least tomorrow and Friday then it gets a little cooler and partly cloudy into the weekend. Stay tuned. Regards, Lloyd

Left home yesterday morning at 7:00, got here and checked in by 7:00 PM tonight, about 22 hours total driving. Hit rush hour traffic in Portland today, so could have been faster. Every time I leave my motel room in Eugene I get lost. Mapped out my route to the Lane centre for tomorrow, there were a few guys camping in the parking lot tonight.

I had a great time at the show today, and Abby even let me hang out for a little while. I got to meet Luger1952, and best of all I got to meet Charlie! I got to thank him in person for spearheading the tradition forum knives, and I got to be the beneficiary of his amazing generosity.

Unfortunately I couldn't stay too long today. Abby is pretty patient for a two year old, but she is two. I'll get to head back tomorrow for a longer session of chicken eyeing and coon fingering. There is too much to take in at one time anyway.

I'd be grateful if those of you attending would take pictures of the knife displays our fellow members have there and post them.... I was able to obtain a sought after knife via pictures like that last year. :o

Hope you're all having a great time and wish I could go but I've got a young'n I need to watch and he probably won't enjoy a knife show for another 7 or 8 years.

I came home with two that I really really like. Been wanting one of these particular Scagels for a while now and luckily for me Charlie had one for sale! Barry had this little 25 with some of the nicest Bocote I've seen so it came home with me as well. :) Was great getting to chat with you Charlie, Barry and Dave!

Well it is Sunday evening, the show is over and I am tired but very pleased! What a great show it was and what a great time with my BF friends:thumbup::joyous: I will post some pictures of the show and will follow it up with some photos of some of the choice folders I was fortunate to acquire after I get home this week. The show as anyone can attest that has attended is just a massive dose of visual sensory overload from the minute is starts until it ends. There were billions and billions of knives of all sorts and kinds under that convention center roof or at least so it seemed:confused:! Anyway here are some photos I took

The show hasn't even started (table dealer setup on Friday) and here out at the front entrance the knife rolls are spilled open to a anxious bunch of knife collecting madmen (ha ha)

Charlie (Waynorth) on the left

Dave (Knowtracks) on the right

Barry (gunstockjack) smiling with anticipation as he meticulously sets up his table

Christine Tucker and Dave (Knowtracks) pause for a photo during Friday setup

Charlie, Chrstine Tucker and Dave during Friday morning setup at the GEC table

Dale (Orvet) Dan (danno50) and Dale's wife at their table

Me and Charlie at his table on Saturday--me trying to catch my breath and Charlie running strong!

Dan and his prize pristine KK he found. He is just about to head right out after this for a 22hour drive back to Saskatchewan, Canada

Charlie "talking shop" with Dale at his table

Three cool guys calmly waiting for the storm to arrive

Wow! If I wasn't on the other side of the country I would certainly try to make it next year. Very cool to see!

Thanks for posting those, Lloyd! Can't wait to get home and post a few of my own!
When the people poured in, it was a great turnout!
It was nice to meet Dan, a fellow Canadian, and it was great to have friends around, Dave, Lloyd, Chris and Dale, and others too numerous to list. Several members here at BF dropped by for a visit, and/or bought a knife or two! Hopefully they will report in!
I have a couple of rare Elusive Schrades to post later in the week! We might spend a couple of days driving up the Oregon and Washington Coast before we get home. What a great long weekend!
Retirement has its benefits!

lol, I think I'm after 1/2 the knives in Barry's cabinet.

Thanks for the pics, this looks like it would be a fun show.

Got home today, tired but not without goodies! Take a gander.:eek::eek:

The 2016 OKCA club knife:

Roy Humenick's special factory order 2016 American Whittler:

I liked the 'character' streak in the grain on both sides of this knife:

Very thin for a large knife:

Great pictures, gents!

I am thinking Maggie and I will fly out there for the show next year, it looks like a lot of fun and I want Maggie to see that part of the country.

best
