The poo, poo thread.

To my shame I not only have this poo-themed knife, but I like it. If the poo-themed clip wasn't mounted for tip-down carry only I think I'd even carry it regularly. The blade shape is awesome, particularly if you have to do some impromptu food prep.

I agree, the blade is great on this one. I am colorblind so the handle just looks like a floater to me, why not make it blue or something?

I'm fine with misfit knives, because we are all misfits in some respect. Some of us just don't realize it.

As for krazy, "ugly" designs, there are only so many variations of the standard modern folder. Either you design a knife that looks pretty much like 300 other mainstream designs, or you step over the edge and design a poo poo folder or something like Spyderco's ethnic series. There are increasingly few new designs that employ traditional styling cues, simply because they end up all looking like each other.

I've only EVER seen a photograph of ONE Spyderco knife that I found moderately interesting. I've never owned a Spyderco. They just do absolutely nothing for me.

They are a HUGE manufacturer, and it seems like everybody here owns one or 20. They just don't appeal to me, at all. I know they are often the first 'production' knife manufacturer to use the very latest in super steels for their blades.

I don't hate them. They just don't interest me at all.

On the other hand, I really do hate Frost Cutlery knives. Never owned one. Never will. I saw a guy trying to sell them on some late night infomercial. "Now remember, you can buy these 30 knives for just $49.99, including shipping. The blades are SURGICAL GRADE STAINLESS STEEL. It just doesn't GET any better than this".

Yes. It DOES. Virtually EVERY OTHER KNIFE ON THE PLANET is better than a Frost Cutlery knife. Even the people in Pakistan who make cheap knives, are going 'Eeeeeewwww' when they see a Frost Cutlery knife.

Well he's not bashing a knife, he's bashing a whole company.. As he has over and over. Its getting ridiculous at this point.

May bad, didn't know there was more to it

It does look like a decent knife, maybe with some micarta or g10.
Whoever decided on those scales at CRKT is crazy, though.

LOL I have that exact knife... Can confirm looks exactly like a turd. Flips really nice though!

I have to agree. I actually was considering grinding the handle down and sculpting it into something more my liking. It uses liner inserts so it leaves a lot of non structural aluminum handle area.

It actually came in a bunch of different colors. I bought mine on one of those deal things for super cheap. Didn't know I was getting the brown until it arrived. Brown color + shape + 'texture' was a complete oversight, LOL!

If you haven't seen the clip the true majesty of the knife's ugliness is lost on you--the scales are beautiful by comparison.

the pocket clip matches the rest of it just right, id' say.

I agree with your sentiment Mr Noodle. I don't get this bashing companies stuff. If you don't like a certain concept that is understandable but some of the comments here aren't made in a productive manner, they are simply bashing. Pretty classless in taste.

There are plenty of folders I don't care for personally but I would not take a dog crap on them because there are people out there who do enjoy them. Who am I to tell people what they like?

I do like a "weird or different" folder sometimes because it's usually function over form. Both have a place in this industry.

The kwaiken trend.
Tactical dice.
Tactical money clips.
Tactical wallets.
Neon blade coatings.
Extreme perspective photos.
Obsessions with country of origin.
Obsessions with lock bar travel.
Obsessions with blade centering.
Batoning with folders.
Hating on people for hating on knives...

Except that OP said it was all in fun. That was the stated spirit of the thread.
You're going to find someone that rabidly swears by and someone that will vehemently bash every knife or maker there is.
I'd say that both kinds of people could stand to lighten up a bit, like step away from the computer and go play with a puppy or something... :D

Having watched this thread from the start I think I missed the part where it turned mean-spirited. Making fun of knives like the Microtech Jagdkommando (sp?) and CRKT Wrinkle is IMO the sort of thing that's pretty hard to get mad about.

I would see them as a good quality user that just needs some tlc, but that's only because I love patina / character and am less likely to worry about a knife that's already seen it's fair share of abuse 😉 ( them old imperial, colonial, and hardware chain knives aren't fancy, but neither are the various peasant knives from around the world )

Those trendy traditionals definitely sell for more than they should and it's ridiculous, but they are a more interesting investment than silver bars 😁

Now, nobody gets to be offended by what some may say, after all, who cares what knife you like, it's yours and you love it right? So don't go all gung ho with a rebuttal or this could go South in a big hurry! All in fun please. ::thumbup::D

Capitalized Living doesn't like them. You defending them is just going to serve to veer this thread off topic, like the OP feared.

As for me....

Medford, RAD Knives, Microtech, most limited edition ZTs, anything with a skull on it, uninteresting "collabs" that custom makers do solely for the purpose of auctioning off the knife or knives at an exorbitant price, etc. The list goes on and on.

nailed it. That ZT 0999 Limited Edition that just came out looks like somebody beat it with an ugly stick.

Its the subject of the thread. Sure, these usually go south as soon as someone gets "their" brand named, but the thread remains open, and the OP asked specifically that people not come in and defend any knives named.

I suppose you could ask the mods to close it.

There should be a "knife/maker argument" subforum
Or maybe one for ZT limiteds, one for Strider, one for Quartermaster...

Well he's not bashing a knife, he's bashing a whole company.. As he has over and over. Its getting ridiculous at this point.

Its the whole point of the thread. He has the right to. Remember, the OP asked that people not rush in and defend a brand, like you did.

Yup. Not only lmao from the crkt mr. Hanky wrinkle, but the price tag on the jagdkommando had me rofl as well as its design. Some people will buy anything. See so many people pay SOOOOOO much money for garbage. Laughable.

I believe that is precisely what GKD here on BF is. If one doesn't want to hear negative opinions about certain brands, that is what manufacturer subforums are for, I believe.
