The poo, poo thread.

All Medfords are bloody useless unless you need a paperweight or doorstop, the ZTs discussed are definitely among the ugliest knives I've had the displeasure of viewing and at least half of Quartermaster's lineup looks like someone got them from the bottom of a cereal box.

The kwaiken trend.
Tactical dice.
Tactical money clips.
Tactical wallets.
Neon blade coatings.
Extreme perspective photos.
Obsessions with country of origin.
Obsessions with lock bar travel.
Obsessions with blade centering.
Batoning with folders.
Hating on people for hating on knives...

what is the deal with the dice, tops, and various trinkets made from metal nowadays? what did i miss out on. are the kids into this stuff or is everyone, and i just missed out?

Having watched this thread from the start I think I missed the part where it turned mean-spirited. Making fun of knives like the Microtech Jagdkommando (sp?) and CRKT Wrinkle is IMO the sort of thing that's pretty hard to get mad about.

As long as they are not knives you like! :D It's all fun and games until somebody like Spyderco or ZT gets mentioned.

Spyderco Myrtle. If that blade shape didn't suck we'd have seen it already. Well at least they paired it with an equally atrocious clip. I predict it will be on closeout in the blink of an eye and even then it won't be cheap enough to buy. Rant over. :)

I believe that is precisely what GKD here on BF is. If one doesn't want to hear negative opinions about certain brands, that is what manufacturer subforums are for, I believe.

Yeah, but negative opinions and thin skin are why the Kershaw/ZT subforum closed a couple years ago.

Edit: I think I misread your post, in which case my reply doesn't make sense. Disregard if necessary.

Well if they moderated it correctly they could have kept those opinions in GKD and maintained a place for the ZT fans to chat unmolested by folks who think their knives are ugly! But...that's neither here nor there...we are here to talk about (to borrow a phrase from another member) "Ugly ass knives...just ugly ass knives!"

There are so many to choose from! I'm sure for ANY knife there is someone here who thinks its ugly. Or "poo poo."

I have to pick on SOG a bit here I don't mind the arc lock but the fake plastic one on the Aegis and a bunch of others is terrible I've never had one without up and down play in fact I'm not sure SOG can make a knife without up and down play.

Yeah, no kidding. That reminds me....

Tactical tops.
Purple anodized anything.
Fake military credentials.
Top secret processes and facilities (let me guess, it involves waterjet and CNC machinery).
Kirinite.
Using limited edition survival choppers to cut wedding cakes.
Using expensive folders to carve pumpkins.
Using fund raising sites to sell knives.
Pictures of knives with sausage and fancy cheese.
Wearing rubber gloves when handling a knife that was made a week ago.
Star Wars themed knives.
Star Wars.
Ani DiFranco.

Just switched my carry knife for today because of this thread. One of my beloved Southards had to go to the drawer so I could put this beauty in my pocket:

Are you sure? Maybe the world is desperate for micro-hawkbill recurves and they just don't know it yet . . .

I don't think the Aegis uses the Arc Lock, it's a piston lock as far as I can tell and mine at least does not appear to be plastic. I agree, the up and down movement though slight is annoying, otherwise I really like this (mini) little knife.

If Bladeforums was around in 1734 Karambits would be the bees knees I wonder what everyone's edc was back then?

sure they'd be great to use for pull cutting while scalping settlers and Indians alike.:)

I hate to admit it, but I bought one of these too. It was on one of those "deal a day" sites. I paid about $19 for it.
After I got it , I came to the conclusion that Ken Onion pulled a fast on one on CRKT.

What you mean you never cut stars out of sheet metal and practiced on a door as a kid?:)

For me it's any blade in a truck stop. They all ought to be banned.
