The San Diego ART KNIFE INVITATIONAL coming up!

I got a short message from Jon. He and Mike (especially Mike  :D) had a blast. I sure hope to hear more soon.

I am still in the airport but will try to post some detailed comments by Tuesday.

I picked up (with permission) three extra catalogs which I will send to the first three who post here that they want them. But it will be next weekend before I can send them out.

I would LOVE to own one of these catalogs. May I request a copy?

Thanks so much.

Jim

I would love to have one as well!

I believe I have a couple of extra's as well so anyone else who might want one let me know.

The Virginian I would have enjoyed meeting you, or did I?? Either way I imagine you had as much fun as I did.

I put my Jason Knight Founder's Fighter 1/2way through my left palm.....other than that, show was great, got skunked, picked up two pieces from fellow attendees and did a bit of horse trading.

Ouch!! Hope you heal quick! My friend David had a good time at the show, got skunked, too, enjoyed meeting you.

Steven, OUCH!!! Does it hurt as bad as it looks? That must have happened late in the day, after I had to leave. Anyway, it was a pleasure seeing you again - and being in San Diego in general. You live in God's Country, for sure.

Looks like Jim, Kent (?) and Kevin were the first three. Send me a message/e-mail with your address, and I will mail them out this weekend.

Jon, we did meet . . . and we met at Blade, too. I bet you would remember me if you saw my face. I'm the ugly one.

It was an amazing collection of pieces for sure. Assuming everything that was shown was sold - and I think that's true - then a quick guesstimation is that in the vicinity of $1 million worth of pieces were sold. Between the AKI knives, and the amazing pieces that came out on the tables after the AKI knives were sold, it was a bit overwhelming for me.

All of the makers were friendly, pleasant, and patient, too. And the show was very well organized and presented, which really made it a pleasure and an honor to attend. Something came up and I couldn't make the banquet, so I don't know who won the Buster Award. Maybe someone else could post that here.

Steven did quite the job on himself for sure. The Virginian for sure I remember you and realized it on the anothemthread where you mentioned the Persian. Great score I really like that piece.

C. Gray Taylor was the award winner and he gave an excellent speech.

A very worthy recipient. That Horseman's knife was really something. I spoke with more than one person who just drooled over that one.

I believe he won that award before, too, so that is really quite an testament to his work.

Holy crap! Thought it was just a nick until the picture downloaded. Hope you get better soon.

Only 1/2 way through... I didn't think that you did anything 1/2 way STeven...

Couldn't you have nudged it through the other side? I'm sure you could use
another piercing!

All kidding aside, that's a good one. I hope it heals up quickly for you. Looks
like it'll be sore for awhile.

Holy Cow! I was think a small cut/nick also. I hope you heal quick and are right handed (that's gotta make the job tough)?

Ha Ha,

So I am briskly walking through the AKI show room with a napkin balled up in my left hand, clenched so as to form a pressure bandage, careful not to spill my drink in the right hand, looking for a gift shop in the hotel lobby, to purchase crazy glue, and Matt Diskin is already there, and has purchased it for me. Blot the area dry, and liberally apply crazy glue.....the exothermic reaction is uhhhh.... invigorating.

Luckily, this cut missed any tendons or other vital bits, there is some soreness in the fingers, but nothing major.

It really doesn't hurt much, but is going to make work difficult for a few days(I work as a fishmonger at Whole Foods Market) and is going leave a heck of a scar. I was corking the tip of the Knight as is my custom, we were banging up from the show 'n sell, about 4:30 pm or so. The amount of pressure it took for the knife to go through the cork into my hand was maybe 5 lbs. I LOVE this knife(it was the only piece I had on display not for sale)!

Thanks for the concern everybody....I'll try to get the writeup done within the next few days.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson
