The Sardinian connection.

Hi RampageRhino,
There is of course no maximum price ahahha, but as a collector I don't buy a pattadesa under, let's say, 190$ / 170€ ( without shipping cost ) .
This is for the traditional ones, horn handle and forged carbone steel blade.
You have to know that it take 16 / 18 hours to a good craftman to make a pattadesa.

But of course you can find sheaper knives .

Best regards .

very nice ones also in the 100-150 € (ex works) But Achille is right if you shoot for a 12cm+ handle size.
Please stay away from the imitations...the souvenirs with the appearence of a resolza. Fortunately this thread is full of top notch examples of the real deal ;)

How can I join this underground organization? Does my father have to be a Stonecutter or do I save the life of a Stonecutter? ;)

May anyone provide me links or names of great makers? It's my grandfather's 80th birthday soon, so I need that delivery boat to sail from Europe soon.

If you read through this thread carefully, you will find ways...
If steel removal is fine for you, and you're after a smallish knife (<10 cm in blade length - beware that Sardinian knives are usually bigger), then you can surely find a nice knife, handmade in Sardinia, for less than 150 euros, if you know where to search. Forged steel, larger blades, and so on, will demand higher prices of course.
Whatever you decide, if you take the plunge and get one of these knives, please make sure you get something that fulfills the tradition of Sardinian cutlery. This thread can help you quite a bit.

The knife in this picture has really classic, good looks. Is Mr. Usai's work very expensive?

The "Sardinian Connection" sounds like an agent better than Bond, where can I find him? ;)

Edit: Oh... Thanks for the info., Mr. Fausto. Took me a while to catch on. Your info. has been very helpful to the search.
