The sharpest knife you own

Heck, I thought I was going to get to tell you about the knife I cut my finger with, now I guess I'll have to tell you that the sharpest looking knife I have is the Ron Newton that I picked up last year.

My Meerdink Customs.I also recall a Bud Nealy I used to have being really sharp. As far as production knives go my Sai Mai Maganum Tanto I had bought many years ago was real scary sharp!Chow,RS

First it was a Boker Applegate/Faibairn, then my Kershaw Whirlwind was a razoe. But I think the Sebenza beat them both!

I've owned several CS pieces that were very sharp out of the box. If I'm willing to spend a little extra time, I can duplicate that level of sharpness myself, but no holds barred, the sharpest knife I own or have ever beheld is my Black Cloud 10" Bowie. I couldn't get Ernie to admit how he acheived this edge, but I've never seen anything else like it! As Bill Bagwell once said,"It would make a razor blush!"
This is the one piece that I don't show to many people, for fear that they will cut themselves. It is around 16" overall, 1/4" thick, so one slip and we are talking major damage! The false edge is just as sharp as the primary edge.
Doing the old arm hair shaving trick is a different experience with this one, to say the least!
Until I got this knife, I thought that I'd seen the limits of how sharp a knife can be.
I was wrong!

Hmmmm, sharpest knife I own....That'd be the David Boye Persona, very thin edged and extremely sharp! Not one to take out and whack trees with, though I do whittle with it as the wharncliff type blade works well for that, but that be the sharpest of the bunch. Even though every one I have, from the Swiss Army Knives to the William Henry Rainbow series Spearpoint will all shave hair quite nicely, the Persona really cuts to the Quick !

Sebenza.Right out of the box.
Microtech chisel grind.IT was real scary.

For me, it is a hands down no competition my Black Jack Knives. They are ALL razor sharp, I mean I could shave with them....not that I plan to though.

Happy Holidays.

No doubt about it, my crabtree & Evelyn Ivory-handled straight razor! Very thin blade, frighteningly sharp edge. It has turned the once mundane chore of shaving into quite an adventure!

If sharpness is the only concerned issue, I would probably stick to things like shaving razors, craving knives, broken glass, etc....(kidding!).... well, personally I am "still" a fan of Cold Steel. Sharpness is OK in their products, but I really wonder how robust they can be (although they claim a lot!!). I have not yet got a chance to break one of my Cold Steel yet, but I really want to see what kind of tang structure they employ in their fix blades. Can anyone suggest?

The sharpest out of the box would be the CS Triple Action Tanto. Actually equal to that was the JSP Credit Card Blade.

The impossible I can do right away, miracles take a little longer.

Cold Steel Voyager Tanto (plain edge)was sharpest out of box and after several years of daily carry and occassional use for utility purposes it remains the sharpest. That's why it goes with me each day. After each utility use, I touch up the blade on a Sharpmaker.

My sharpest out of the box used to be a Helle, a Nordic knife without secondary bevels. Having a chisel grind or no secondary bevels generally makes a big difference in sharpness.

However, I must say that I recently bought a large Spyderco Calypso and it's got a surprisingly vorpal blade. The Calypso has taken over the #1 spot, with my Military and a Voyager at #3 and #4 respectively.
