Gary Graley and I know, the best cutting knives are the David Boyes. I have a David Boye custom hunter that out cuts any other knife I've tried by a significant (I mean big) margin, and that includes the Sebenza.
in a big knife, my cs trailmaster from
about 7 years ago was pretty damn sharp.
i have a spyderco viele with a nasty point
and it shaved well OOTB.
my boye cobolt fixed blade wasn't scary
sharp, but i haven't had to sharpen it yet,
and it still shaves.
my mad dog lab rat might have been the
sharpest though

"you see that mountain over there? near as i can figure, that's where we are!"
Steve, your right on the money, and as for the Cobalt steel knives, I don't know just how to explain how they cut so well, but not seem to feel sharp? My folder in Cobalt doesn't shave hair well but does cut rope, cardboard, tape and plastic very well.
But as others have mentioned, if you can't sharpen a knife, your gonna' have problems no matter which one you choose! I'd reccommend the Spyderco Sharpmaker 204, sold my old 203 and the 204 should be on it's way to me pretty soon. Paul Davidson and others have lead me to believe that Spyderco really went out of their way to make that unit especially nice! Then get or make a strop.
